Thoughts on pilot watches or other sport watches on dressy leather straps?

As the title asked, just wondering what some of your thoughts are on this. I’m all for wear what makes you happy in whatever way you deem fit, but I’m curious of your opinions

Works on that Hamilton, for sure! 😃

I think it looks great. That watch can be paired with so many options to make it dressier or as a pilot, tool styled watch. 👍

Leather makes anything work

I put almost all my watches on leather straps. It can really help elevate a watch to a more elegant looking piece. If it’s not on leather, it’s on a nato.

I agree, sometimes I think watch people get too attached to historical function and forget the specific design of the model makes a bigger difference. The Cartier santos and JLC reverso come to mind as examples of historic sports watches that are much more dress watch at this point

I go back and forth constantly between leather, nato, rubber and bracelet. Really depends on the watch for me

Vast majority of "pilot" watches can be worn on any strap including yours. I only don't see certain sport watches like carbon case and majority of divers fit on leather. But it is ultimately every persons choice

·

Pilot watches seem more at home on leather vs a bracelet in my opinion. In some cases it was standard issue (ie bund straps).

Wear whatever you like. It's your wrist and your money. For me, I just can't seem to get into pilots watches no matter what strap or bracelet they are on. Just not my thing. I agree with the above comment that you should try a bund strap as those were once fairly common for pilots watches.

·

I'm a huge fan of leather, looks good with everything, and with pilot and field watches it's simply historically accurate too

·

Love this. Shows you know that you’re not flying a plane at this minute and that you know how to dress up a bit.

·

Nothing is absolute. No-thing. Depends on the watch. Depends on the mood. That Hamilton pictured looks awesome on black leather. A different Hamilton will look better on a NATO, or a bracelet. No absolutes.

·

Leather can make anything “dressier” 👍🏻

I really like it! Keep it up

A little different, but cool.
