The InvictaMatic!

my first post AND first watch mod! i just got into watches a few months ago and i picked up an Invicta Pro Diver on prime day. ended up discovering i'm not into the subby case style, so i put the invicta pro diver movement, dial, and hands in a Unimatic U2-style case and i cannot be more pleased with the result! topped off with a zulu diver velcro strap.

Great job! I love it man.

Was it a perfect fit? no added seals or anything? I'm very interested to know more details.

·

Good job.

You sure learned a lot in a few months.

nah, it slotted right in with the stock grey movement ring. it was a very simple swap and all i had to do was cut a new crown stem and voila!

i started watching wristwatch revival about a year ago and it's really helped me comprehend how a watch works!

Out of all the watch content I consume, wristwatch revival is the best. He has a wealth of knowledge on  history and the technical aspects. Those videos definitely helped give me the confidence to start modding and tinkering with non runners.

Where did you get the donor case from? if you don't mind me asking.

i got it on ebay. searched "nh35a case" and settled on this one: 38mm Brushed AR Sapphire Glass 200M Diver Swim For NH34 NH35 NH36 Watch Case | eBay.

it came with a crown and nothing else so i ordered in a set of crown stems. other than a couple of tools (like a bergeon 8-ball and a pin vise) that was all i needed. it was bafflingly easy and unfussy. i did it in a half hour gap between zoom meetings!

Is it just me or does the photo make this look much smaller (aka better) than a ~40mm Pro Diver? Huge improvement IMHO.

·

That is one classy looking Invicta, finally done with all the college keggers, all grown up and ready to start it's new job as mayor of Watch Town USA!

38mm diameter, 47.8mm l2l.

·

Dang!…that’s the way to do it.

·

It looks Uber cool! Image this with Omega or Rolex!

·

#invicta could take a cue from your styling for sure! Reminiscent of a #rolex explorer. Very cool!

·

Well done there. Now try the hands.

yeah, i'm easing myself into the more delicate stuff. figured i'd acquire some tools and get familiar with getting into a watch with a movement swap project.

i'm interested in taking on another project, but i'm kinda crippled by choice when it comes to the design aspect. so i'm just looking at a lot of watches for ideas rn
