Help me find a watch for my girlfriend!

Hello crunchers!

My girlfriends birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of getting her a watch.

She didn't wear watches but I gave her my f-91w and to my surprise she actually wears it sometimes!

I'm looking for something not too expensive, small and playful, digital or anidigi, preferably retro, maybe with some colors.

Any cool small casio references? Should I look at swatch?

You could do a lot worse than the Casio GMA-S2100-7AER. Looks great in white IMO.

Casio has a few digital watches that come in different colors. Below is a teal (or apparently “green”) one I got for my sister. She likes it and gets a decent amount of compliments.

Swatch allows you to pick a watch with a theme that reflects her specific interests. Below are examples of themes relating to art, music and even tattoos.

She'll see that you selected it because you "know" her interests. There are also geographical themes that could reflect places you've been to together or would like to go to in the future.

Colorful, playful, low maintenance and affordable they can be a great "new relationship" watch because it leaves room to go upmarket for a more "serious" watch should the relationship also get more serious.

Wow, nice! The cream one with the red dial! Gotta find that one!

She liked the Hamilton PSR very much, the whole retro 70s thing! Now I found this:

might just keep it for myself if she doesn't like it 😂

Coincidentally, I have also given a F-91W to my wife and she uses it as her daily driver. They are fantastic work horses with a modest presense on the wrist!

Anyway, if you ask me, I would recommend skipping the digital/anidigital options and go straight to analog (quartz). It’ll work for dressier occasions and stand out more from the Casio. Maybe a Timex expedition or weekender? Good to dip her toes inexpensively into this realm to find out if analog watches are her thing (or not).

Thats a very good point 🤔

As far as women's models go, the LA-670w is probably as retro as it gets, considering it's been in production since the late 80s and comes in a bunch of different styles.

A700W-1A is a great choice for her

My suggestion would be to get her whatever metal bracelet, digital Casio speaks to you. I have an A158 and it’s more charming than any of my other watches, including my A168 (I think it’s the lower profile and the lack of hooded lugs which lets the bracelet move more freely).

Will always suggest Citizen Eco Drive ~10y battery life solar watches from Amazon. Especially for someone who isn’t an enthusiast to just grab & go!

Timex has a Marathon diffusion line that has some small, cheap, and colorful models similar to some Armitron models. Not sure if either are available where you are.

I would also go with that version and color choices are strong. Can be picked according to favorite colors.
