Best Sub 1k Diver?

This is an underrated watch imo. What is the best sub 1k diver in your opinion?

I think you nailed it!

I thought those were more expensive than that

·

Probably that or some kind of Certina.

·

Doxa have some really great watches in their catalog at the moment. They have a great heritage and are good value for money. My fav is the 300T series 💪

·

Have wanted a Doxa since I started reading Clive Cussler in the 70's.

·

this little Doxa is very good, but if you want a more “serious” diver - you could go with a Prospex from Seiko.

·

I want to love Doxa as I love their designs especially all the 70s influenced stuff.

But I handled a few at a show late last summer and I was very underwhelmed by the feel and build quality to be honest.

As was the watch enthusiast I was with.

So they didn't speak to me sorry.

For sub £1k I would go Circula, Christopher Ward or Nivada grenchen?

Ocean Crawler Great Lakes for me

Seiko Prospex line, pick the one you like. I personally would recommend a turtle style.

·

That's a beautiful Doxa

·

If we are talking EXTREMELY sub $1K, Helm Vanuatu.

Dollar per ounce don't think there is a better deal, ISO, lume out the wazoo, plenty hardy, tool watch vibes.

Baltic Aquascaphe

Moving up the scale a little bit I'd throw Nodus or Elliot Brown into the mix as well.

Nodus, because multiple position regulation, fantastic QC and finishing, andjust flat out a solid, readable, easy wearing watch.

Elliot Brown, if you are wanting some broad arrow, issued goodness. Or you want a pretty unique complication.

Don't have much to compare with as I have only just come to appreciate divers. But so far I'm very happy indeed with my Squale 1545.

I was very close to getting the Doxa!

·

I think that Doxa is fire for an under 1k option. If you can find an oris divers sixty pre-owned for close to 1k, that would get my vote. Only 100 meters, but love the design.

·

Certina, they have a great history regarding divers👍otherwise from personal experience with diving I like Seiko

Not sure it’s the best but it’s my favourite.

Color palette of your watch and jacket really complement each other!

The Sub200 is great. It's almost a paradox for Doxa because they have some much history packed into the Sub300 line, the 200 almost lives within the shadow of the brand itself. 50% chance that if any other watch brand released this as their diver, it'd be the staple of their collection.

·

Find one pre owned. You won’t be disappointed.

I think you’re right,love my sub200

·

Sub 1000 skin diver/retrodiver goes to the Baltic Aquascaphe BOR for me. Ive handled that model you posted and it was nice, but not nice enough for the price difference imo unless the doxa cache is your thing

·

Zodiac Sea Wolf!! It came out the SAME year as the Rolex Submariner and the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and yet, it doesn't have the same iconography. However, it was VERY popular with commercial divers and military personnel during the 50s - 60s

·

I considered and tried a sub200 when looking for a blue dial diver at around 40mm. I ended up buying a Mido Ocean Star attribute. I prefer the movement and the bracelet, it also comes with a very nice blue rubber strap. For me it’s different from most blue dial divers and a perfect summer watch.

Great looking Doxa! For my money, I’ve been super impressed with my MIDO Oceanstar 200c, the level of finishing is pretty amazing (the case transition bevels, fine brushing, and high polish areas are nearly on par with my Longines Spirit) that plus features like the on the fly bracelet adjustment make me think if this had a name on the dial a little higher up the Swatch group food chain, it would probably be sold as a $1,800 - $2k watch.
