One watch for the rest of your life?

If you had to pick ONE watch from your current collection and it was the only watch you ever got to wear for the rest of your life, what would you pick? No cheating!

Omega Speedmaster 3861 sapphire sandwich.

No thanks.

Omega Speedmaster 3861 sapphire sandwich.

I would choose this, but I want more water resistance in my GADA.

·

Longines Spirit Zulu Time.

Seiko Alpinist in blue with the compass bezel. I would have said aqua terra, but it has a little more water resistance and a lot smaller price tag;)

Edit: I didn't see the post said from your current collection.

I don't own this watch!!!

·

My Breitling Transocean Worldtimer but I would switch the bracelet with a calf leather strap and one of B’s deployant buckles.

·

I really don’t want to play but the Exploer ll would be the one.

·

Having a watch collection and then deciding to wear just one watch sounds very bizarre to me.

My Explorer homage watch. It's a bit small, but it wears so well. But if I knew it would be my forever watch, I would probably want to upgrade to the real thing first.

Tudor Heritage Ranger. No question.

If you asked me now, my answer would be this watch here. Recently, I've acquired it and it's a birth year watch. It handles the majority of the social needs that this inactive nerd could be put against. However, I leave behind amazing vintage, unique complications, enjoyable and eclectic pieces - what a horrible situation to be in

Does not compute 🤖🤖🤖

If you put a gun to my head, i'd have to choose my Daytona panda because it's versatile and slim. Don't want a dress watch as my only one.

Yep my steel Daytona is the only watch I really need due to versatility.

Seiko Railroad Approved. Quartz watch was a gift from my Grandparents upon my high school graduation, been on my wrist 20 years. For most of that time it was my only wrist watch.

Image

Of course, it still works and still keeps perfect time.

·

I want to say my GMT Master II (especially because I’d then also buy the oyster bracelet for it) but if it came down to it I’d probably choose the Explorer II.

Probably this, my 126610LV Rolex Submariner date. I’d trust it to survive another 30-40 years of daily wear, and it’s common enough to get it serviced easily.

·

Half of me says the IWC Mark XX and the other half says the Omega SMP 300M Diver. And a third half says the IWC Chronograph 41 Spitfire. As a hockey fan, I’m allowed to have three halves.

·

Choice of the heart: probably my seamaster or my GMT master 2 to have something accurate enough and water resistant. And a date!

Choice of the head: my metal square gshock. No maintenance, water resistant, solar charging, auto-time, day/date, chronograph, alarm....

I have to agree with @cornfedksboy and @jcuervo on the Longines Spirit Zulu Time I think.

Too dressy, lack of date lack of WR, lack of lume, lack of total versatility would kill it for me.

This watch hikes and climbs rock, swims a great distance, drops an anchor, carries drywall, gives the date when no phone, gives time when pitch black … AND this watch can go to weddings, fancy dinners or a slick office. Looks professional.

Image

I’ve got pricier watches and watches that do much better for specific scenarios.. but my all around everything well watch is my Alpinist on it’s perfect fit bracelet.

Image

Light and comfy. Fashionable and dressy, a 200m diver WR, bright seiko lume, light on the wrist for biking or running, and a perfect 38.8 size - so versatile!

If I took emotion out of the decision it would be the Tudor BB58.
