Letters to Santa: What watch do you wish existed?

I thought it might be fun to hear WC's Christmas wish list of watches which don't yet exist, but might(!) if we are really good girls and boys..

Dear Santa/Grand Seiko,

I wish you could make me a 39mm brushed case, 12 well lumed plots, fixed bezel, spring drive, gmt, 100m+, black dial, tapered bracelet, tooly not shiny..

I also wish for a smaller JLC Polaris GMT, perhaps without the internal bezel..

Yours Truly,

X+Y+Z

A 40mm, good quality, affordable (under £500) Quartz diver please Santa

·

A Vacheron Constantin Overseas that could be bought without my wife selling her kidney.

She's coming round to the idea but only if I volunteer to clean the bathroom once every year. I told her - No deal!

·

Seiko divers with NO BLUMMIN' DATE !!!

·

Fun game ! Here is mine

Dear Santa, please make

A Christopher Ward that has the case of the Trident pro 300 in 38mm but with the hands of the Dune/Aquitaine series

Also make a sweeping hand the Citizen Chronomaster (even better if it is a no-date version !)

·

An RM swatch collab 🤣

·

Interesting. I haven’t actually given much thought to this at all. Been too wrapped up in what actually exists.

Let’s see - a Rolex Sub no date in 38-40mm with a meteorite dial like the Daytona.

·

A Rolex Explorer 40 that I can just walk into the AD and buy 😇

·

kikuchi nakagawa murakumo in my price range 😂re additions of 62mas not limited and over priced, and some real 44gs case models back in the line, not asking for much 🙄🙈

·

Dear Santa,

Here’s what I’d like to get

Remember Gerald Genta?

Hope my requests are met

This year’s about to end

My watchbox needs refill

If you’ve got time to spend

A gift, without bank bill

My wrist needs some attention

Here’s my Christmas obsession

Receiving a new watch piece

May it be Japanese or Suisse

Find one with right dimensions

A dial with no frills

A nicely tapered bracelet

Oh, that would be a thrill

Applied or printed indices

It doesn’t really matter

Reissue something Seventies

No plastic parts to shatter

Give it a smaller crown

So that won’t hurt my skin

Maybe the lugs go down,

The height should be real thin.

Don’t need a complication,

A date’s more than enough.

No pushers for duration

Must not exceed the cuff

The hands could have some lume

Small indices as well,

I mean, in a nutshell

At night it must go boom

·

A 38mm casio oceanus or a dress watch that is 36-38mm, 10mm with no date that I can afford (preferably under £300 definitely under £500)

·

Dear Mr Santa Claus/Father Christmas

All I want for Christmas this year is a 34mm tool watch that isn't as thick as a concrete slab and has a restrained, yet exciting design that also comes with a wife and girlfriend in the box. I am willing to lose the wife in favour of good movement finishing if it troubles you, sir.

Best regards and many thanks in advance

Anything with no date. Who ever looks at a watch for the date?

A steel Patel that’s not $50,000. Haha

·

37mm VC overseas without diamonds

·

I Only have 1 wish for Santa.

Dear Santa,

Make the Seiko Alpinist go back to $200. I'd really like to get one. I just won't spend $1000 for a watch that when originally introduced was $200.

·

Certina Podium Square. It can be picked up used but is discontinued new. Gutted!

Don’t think Indians come in steel. Specially not for just $50k.

Have you tried? I've heard waiting lists aren't too hard to get onto for the explorer..

I did. I walked into my first AD last Saturday. My 19 month son was showing off to her dancing around and the employee was loving it. Hopefully that puts me in her good graces haha

·

I would like to have seen Rolex come out with a Strawberry GMT on a Jubilee... When I saw the Tudor Black Bay red bezel on a Jubilee I loved it so much I bought this.. not that I can dream of owning a Rolex but, thought it would a fun take on a clasic

Wow, that's actually... awesome! Very tempting indeed!

·

Platinum 36mm Explorer. Now that would be stealthy.

·

Saint Nick,

Get Timex to make a 34mm Easy Reader and keep the Indiglo but stick a mechaquartz movement in there. Day and date, of course. If they can be arranged all cool (full arched day and a date magnifier or something) that would be nice, but whatever. Please make the case stainless, as that chromed brass doesn't hold up as well cosmetically. Finally, can we get some points on the end of those blocky hands? Just improve them so they don't look so Mondaine. Oh wait, if you want a Stop2Go movement instead of the sweep second hand, that would be cherry too.

One more thing, how about a snazzy expansion band with some neato pattern stamped or integrated into it? I promise I'll stop beating my woman and stealing from work.

·

Dear Santa,

I would like to get the new Tudor Pelagos FXD in black please.

I never cared for the Tudor’s until I listened in the Fratello podcast.

I really love this one!

Out of interest, what did they say about being on the wish list or whatever they call it now!?

Not new, but it kinda fits the vibe from the sounds of it! If you like 34/35mm there are some absolute bargains in the vintage world. From beaters to Vacherons...

I used to realllllly want an indiglo as a boy, but they were way out of my pocket money range... and now I see they're only £50!? This is going to ruin my 3 watch collection...

Yep, that's why I mostly collect vintage.

Dear Santa

Please can I have the now discontinued Longines Spirit 40mm, reference L2.700.4, white dial on a bracelet.

I'd like it to be in very good condition, with box and papers.

Also, can the upcoming Farer world timer in green be a 40 or 41mm, not a 39, and then can I have one of those too please.

If it's not too much to ask, could you also give my Rolex AD a nudge about the Air King i'm after please.

Yours gratefully,

Timepiece Pete

She said it usually takes about 6-8 months to get the call. But I’m just requesting for the Explorer. I don’t think those are as hard to get as other models
