Rolex Hate

Man, there is a lot of Rolex hate on this app…but miracles of miracles I’ve seen people who “prefer Tudor”, wear Rolex homages, or would “turn down a Rolex” eventually post (granted a few months later) “got the call!!!” 😉

Just saying

No Rolex hate from me. That is a pretty sub. 😍

·

Love Rolex watches.

Not a fan of the A.Ds.

“Rolexxxxx. Never gonna give you up”

No hate here. Congrats.

·

Love mine!

·

I completely appreciate Rolex…and despite being Tudor obsessed I’m afraid I might want one…looking forward to seeing yours in person WC

The Rolex hype, availability and pricing is definitely a concern. Is it really worth all that pain for a product that arguably isn’t value for money. Design is a personal preference but with all the homages and fakes it does suggest they got the design right.

Magnificent ✅

I don’t dislike Rolex or any other brand. I just will never pay more than $1000 for a watch and will also never “wait for the call” for any watch. If I can’t walk in and purchase the watch I want or am unable to purchase one online it’s a no go for me. The exception for me would be something new that is a preorder or a special edition as long as said watches are under 1K.

·

I dislike how many of the ADs behave, I don’t dislike the watches. Just wish it wasn’t over 2 years now waiting for a Polar Explorer 2. Definitely hate that part 😉

I don’t expect to get “the call”, but if I ever do I’ll be posting it!

·

A lot of times people act like they dislike something because it’s out of their price range. I was lucky enough to buy 1 just as I retired unfortunately as I’ve been retired for some time I really can’t afford a second one. Now I’ve never been able to afford a Patek but it would be one of my 1st teats if I ever won a lottery. Lol.

I've not seen any "hate" for their watches? Plenty of people prefer other makes and plenty don't like the buying experience but that's all I've seen.

·

What's so bad about Rolex "homages"?

You just haven't read enough of my posts. 😜😂🤣

No hate from me I❤️Rolex

As @BadgeHoarder says, love the product, don't care for the middlemen.

I genuinely love the look of the plain sub, the milgauss, and the explorer I and II.....could care less about dealing with all the shenanigans surrounding it.

Thankfully that awkwardness, difficulty, and games surrounding getting one has helped to inspire some to fill the void, enter Sangin Instruments. Yes I know it's not near the same level of COSC, finish, etc. but at least more readily available-ish.

Also, if the shown special project does in fact exist, and should you see it in the wild, talk to that person. Guarantee they might have some cool stories.

·

No hate here. But no fawning over conspicuous consumption either. Feel free to do your thing.

·

Personally, I don't hate or enjoy Rolex. I had one. It was fine. Didn't resonate with me, so I sold it and got one that did. Is what it is.

In the end, they're just watches :-)

As long as you enjoy the ones you have, who am I to speak ill of it?

Unfortunately I've seen (and screenshot) many instances of Rolex hate on WC and have occasionally pushed back.

One of the many forms this bias takes are the numerous comments about "Rolex owners" rather than about "Rolex watches".

Comments about "Rolex owners" on WC include that they aren't "real enthusiasts", arent "real collectors", "stupidly play the AD game", "don't know about watches", "only buy to flex their wealth", "think Rolex is a luxury brand" etc.

Whenever someone posting starts knocking buyers rather than watches it's a red flag that that there are other unhealthy factors in play.

Last week someone posted an inquiry on WC about how many excuses a Rolex owner will find to bring up to others that he owns a Rolex. That's just passive aggressive snark that gets normalized when others don't call it out.

There isn't one type of Rolex owner any more than there is one type of pizza eater. Critique the watch not the wearer. Hoping WC doesn't become FB or Reddit.

Not sure I would call that "hate" but I get what you're saying. We must accept the reason Rolex is so popular is because it does attract none watch enthusiasts and flippers far more than other brands and people will always react against popularity with negativity. The situation with the AD's is also controversial with it appearing to be a popularity contest rather than a fair waiting list. I love Rolex watches but I don't think a bit of banter is going to turn WC into Reddit. 🤔

There are thousands of watches I can't afford yet absolutely love the design of. The Submariner is not one of them. Mercedes hands, cyclops, (lack of) symmetry, dial text, boxy numerals, maxi-case, association with flex culture... There are many reasons for someone to not like the aesthetics of these watches. Respect that everybody's tastes can't always match yours. Difference is good. 🤷

The Submariner doesn't have a Cyclops......

Look again. It's literally the first picture in the thread. There is a no-date version without cyclops, yes.

That's the Submariner "date" the Submariner doesn't have a date. I was being pedantic. 😉

I'm cool with your experience being different than mine. If a bit of banter for you includes focusing on the wearer rather than the watch than we can respectfully hold different views on that.

Again I've not seen anything on this app that I would find offensive if aimed at me but I suppose being offended is a personal thing. 👍

We are fortunate to have a good AD where I live. I've bought both Rolex and Tudor from them, always from the same salesperson.

·

It's like my favourite thing to do on here, engaging in "discussion" with those folk who are blinded by their bias against Rolex as to why their claims are often completely inaccurate.

Yes, I own a Rolex. Yes I love my Air King. But i'm not a huge Rolex fanboy. I bought the model I liked and the rest can go to other people who want them. I have no desire for a Sub / GMT / Exp / Daytona etc etc.
