The way things have been going at Seiko, I feel they are moving away from offering the specs this watch has at this price point. Being a 2015 release, Now a comparable Seiko release with Urushi dial is around 3,000

Black or grey new suit? Black dial is hard to pull of if you're going blue 🤔

You cannot go wrong with Seiko. However, if you have a budget of $500 there are many options for a classic watch. I have one that I got from Costco. If you have the membership or know someone who does, it is worth checking it out in person.

Nice looking watch! but I'm looking for a watch with a little more refinement or elegance. One of the big selling points of the Seiko was the subtle elegance of the dial and uniqueness. I appreciate your input a great deal!

@ 620 I'm not sure you'll find many watches that will hold their own against the urushi dial of that watch. Inflation has pushed dials of this quality up market in recent years, just food for thought. either way congrats to your daughter, take lots of pictures and enjoy!

Congratulations!  I think you made a great choice, but if you want something a little bolder, you may want to consider this.

100% true - sadly it applies to almost every (not a Rolex) watch you put on.  A Bambino and a Breguet will be considered to be roughly the same to all normal people.    

BTW- I love urushi lacquer based dials.  I’ve got a Kurono but would love to get a Seiko urushi as well.  It’s a slow laborious process changing the sap into a dye, polishing it, and curing it.  Both traditional and classic 👌

I believe this comes with the watch when you need recharging.

If you have a watch with Roman numerals for the hours, and a date wheel, the date wheel should show the day in Roman numerals too. Granted, you would probably have to reduce the font just a tad to fit XXVIII in, but's a small price to pay for your allegiance to Marcus Aurelius and his pals.

So was going to purchase through Sakura watches and they only had one in stock and upon inspection there was an issue with the watch and had to cancel the order. So No I'm looking for a new seller in Japan

I ended up going with the Seiko SARX029. Just a heads up if you're thinking about buying this watch. I would jump on it fast. In the short time I was shopping around for one they became increasingly hard to find at a good price. A lot that were listed were not in stock or had issues.

And the price has started to go the other way, I was fortunate to have found one for just under 600.00 with fee's and shipping.

Too late! he wore a 1960 Seiko 14k gold Cronos w/SD Special Dial with solid 18k gold indices. that I gave him. My daughter was sporting a giant ring..

I also gave my son a 1960 Seiko Cronos standard issue for the wedding
