I was big into the Longines Spirit Flyback Chronograph. Really cool, but 17mm thick!
Hard to beat a slightly used Speedmaster Pro. Also gets a Tag Monaco, Tag Autavia, Navitimer, and the world of micro brands, Bravur, Farer, etc. What are you looking for?

I love my Norqain.
Comes in well under your budget, I love the dial, was a little worried about legibility when I bought it but it’s very easy to read. Only problem is that it’s a little hard to get hands on with it first.

Buy slightly used and get a Carrera or Speedmaster. Those are the two best chronos throughout history IMO.
Well under 5k the Delma Montego is definitely a chronograph option to explore

You can get a preowned Breitling Chronomat for $5k or just above depending on dial color. That would be my choice.

Same movement as Rolex Daytona Zenith but rarer as most of the movements are allocated to Rolex.
This Longines Full Calendar Chrono is still under 5k. Thinking I should wear it more than I do.
I don’t have a ton of experience with chronos, but I absolutely love my Tudor BB Chrono.
