Little blue cold 🥶 icon

What real meaning are we trying to convey with these little imoji’s ? I thought I would give you my reasons for my emoji usage.

🥶 is ; “ its very cool 😎

OR it leaves me cold ,

✅ means : Congrats you own a watch not a device , nuff said…

🧐 is ; its an interesting looking watch , either nay I will never own it but looks good for you and or on you .

🦄: Its very different! Blimey !

❤️: obviously I love your watch!

🔥: i burn to have one ,

👌: very cool 😎 no it doesn’t leave me cold or am on the fence ,it’s very cool!

🤮: read Joker Invicta, or large fugly watch , p.s. I don’t give these out , I would prefer to give you a ✅ as “ good on you, your wearing a watch !

💪: Read here , big damn Casio , gshock , Duro etc , ir digital because everyone else gives the same response,

AND lastly , 🎯 or 💯, spot on ensemble with car clothes bike etc , scenery …

There I won’t offend if I can help it , as I really don’t mean anything really negative, they are all “ just watches” not ideologies, praxeologies or political statements in the long run , it’s all just a bit of fun 🤩

Cheers 🍻

P.S 👏 : sarcasm without real spite , My green watch on a pink strap for example:)

I honestly don’t have a clue it’s all hieroglyphics to me 😳🦵💪🤞😶‍🌫️🤯😵‍💫🫸👅🥷 haha

·

Thanks for that, I'll pay more attention to your reactions now 🥶

🤯🙄

😜

·

To me,, this one ✅ has always meant helpful or informative. That's what it means at a car forum I frequent.

🥶 Either a winter picture or "damn, that's cold".

🤖 Digital or futuristic

🦄 You've found the rarest of all watches.

👌 Very nice

🧐 We are not amused. Harumph.

The sad part is, a lot of these emojis have dual meanings.

🔥 can mean "That is HOT!" or "That is a hot take!"

🥶 can mean "That is so hot it's cold!" Or as you mention, it can mean "I'm not feeling it."

Some people have even developed & frequently use a pseudo-language made of emojis, but because a lot of emojis can have different interpretations, it's not a great way to actually communicate on a wide spread basis.

There's an anecdote I've seen that kind of sums this up:

Image

Me, I'm just grateful someone took a moment to react to something I posted. I generally don't try to look for the deeper meaning in an emoji reaction; especially if it's not immediately clear. I do not have time or energy to try to read the minds of internet strangers.

Agreed

Other than the obvious ones I'm pretty clueless with the remaining 90% of emojis. Much like you, I never mean to be contentious or for my comments ever to be a show of my dislike of someone's watch or opinion.

We're all different & if someone else gets enjoyment from something I don't appreciate, I'm happy for them. Likewise if someone doesn't like any of my watches or opinions, no problem. 😜

I still have flashbacks late at night. But hey… we did it for a good cause, right? Right ?!

·
·

I don’t use it myself, but always wondered what others meant with the 🔥icon. Is that “it’s hot”, “ it has great lume”, “torch it… bad idea” ?

Why do you keep giving my posts those then??/

What's the rocket ship mean? That I want to send the watch to the Moon?

The rainbow is perplexing as are the two gang hand signs.

I use the clapping hands in the old Twitter sense of emphasis for a declaration. Basically "Fools, listen to this person and their unpopular take!"

·

I don't read into them too much. If I leave you an emoji, 99.9% of the time it means I like your watch, or what you have to say. If I don't like it, I usually won't respond. Sometimes I'm just lazy and will click an emoji that's already been given, so I don't have to scroll down and choose a new one. 😂

Absolutely! You want to a-knowledge as many people who bother to notice you back too 🙂

These two are the most confusing ones IMHO:

🤌 - used for something with Italian flair, or it could mean WTF or it can be used as a compliment (delicious food - chef's kiss). I guess we use it as a compliment here on WC.

🤙 - this is probably used to indicate a cool watch but actually means call me 📳

I thought you use the italian hand if you like their Squale or Panerai! Anyway folks if I give you one its a like 🙂 no fecking idea what the Rocket 🚀 means either .

The single tear means that you shivved a guy when you were in the joint.

In prison here it means you have killed a man .

The one that I don't get is this one: ImageWhy are some reply using a sad face emoticon? I assume it's because the subject of the post wasn't making them happy, but then why not just move along and find a topic that does make you happy?

Posts that get this from me are usually sad in nature. "I had to sell my watch., *I dropped my watch", "My spouse thought my Seamaster was only worth $599 and sold it for that"

·

The crossed fingers I give means “ I hope your Invicta Hublot Swatch etc keeps ticking for you today , sarcasm but just in jest no malice just being cheeky :)

Really? I always thought that the first emoji was the sign language gesture for a cat

·
PoorMansRolex

I don't know what it means! It looks like nobody does, yet it is there.

To answer @Catskinner I believe that the single tear is meant to be used in response to sad stories, and seeing people litter. I just use it when people want to buy a Santos or Moonwatch, and that is not a tear of joy.

My confusion is due to seeing it used as a reaction to some WRUW wrist shots. What can be there to make someone sad and why not simply skip to the next pic if this is so distressing?

I guess you have spread too much love 😂

I didn’t know it either. I just looked for it after seeing the question from @PoorMansRolex

·

I’ve seen ✅used quite a lot on Green Friday if you’ve posted a green watch.

🚀has been used for Moonwatch/Moonswatch

👑Rolex/King Seiko or an otherwise splendid piece?

🥶Yeah, ice cold

💎actual gems “iced” watch or just really sharp

I know I’ve used 🤖for digital/casio

⭐️is a bit confusing but I’ve used it anyway 😂

I’m not going through every single one but it’s nice to have more choice than before 😉

🤔this to me is thinking/pondering rather than disapproving?

Yeah the internet has really improved and clarified human communication 🤣🤣🤣

I always give 🔥for “hot” as in “great watch”

I’ve seen and used 👏quite often when someone has modded/repaired/built a watch or taken great pics or said something useful or profound or….So that’s super clear then 🤣🤣

Usually when someone has lost/broken/scratched a watch or someone is ill? I have wondered based on context if people have used sarcastically sometimes like I’m sad because your watch is an homage or I don’t like it? I’ve not used it sarcastically myself…

·
Catskinner

Well, it could be accidental emoji selection because, you know, touch screens. Or denoting jealousy, or mourning for a loved one, or ill-fitting shoes. It's pretty easy to deduce if you know the person well and are in the room next to them.

I thought the crossed fingers was for accusing the person of lying, so what do I know?

·

Ill-fitting shoes sound logical. Especially if someone also stole his bicycle.

The cross fingers emoji is the international distress sign to indicate that you must get to the rest room like f*cking NOW.

Thanks Claude hehe that’s gold 😁🦨I think this emoji would not be misunderstood 😂 I usually put the 🤞 imoji to suggest I hope your watch from Ali express , Swatch etc doesn’t stop working 😂 It’s still all in good fun .
