Buying a "his and hers" set for for "HER" special day seems a bit tone-deaf, i.e. buying yourself a watch for her special day. OTOH, if she has admired one of your watches you might be able to buy a matching version for her. Maybe.
On the gripping hand, there was that one time I bought my wife a vacuum cleaner for Mother's Day... but that was at her direct insistence. I thought it was an asinine idea (if I had come up with it) but it was exactly what she wanted and what she asked for!
I wore a Timex quartz chrono daily for years with no issues. Didn't really have ANY problems from it until the running second hand rusted off its pinion due to moisture ingress because the mall watch store that changed the battery kinked the gasket. It still runs but it breaks my heart a little to wear it crippled.
I have backed down from a starting point of 47mm Invictas to somewhere between 40-45mm AliExpress watches (Steeldive, San Martin, Addiesdive, Loreo). The "Willard" style case which seems so comfortable to me doesn't seem to me any bigger on the wrist than a 40mm Sub homage. I have seen several smaller cased watches that interest me but I haven't gotten around to them yet.
