Telling someone he/she is a watch nerd just by looking his/hers wrist!!

There are certain watches that might not mean you are that into watches (even if you actually are) for example, wearing a Rolex Sub can easily point you in the wrong direction, as opposed to a F.P Journe that most certainly is worn by a (wealthy) watch nerd…

So… having that said, what watch, or company guarantees that the owner is also a watch person??

Definitely micro brands and independents, because there needs to be research done to find out about them in the first place, can buy most from a shop 👍

·

Yup, I agree, microbrands & vintage stuff 👍🏻

·

I’d say more “obscure” brands/models or microbrands, someone wearing a Rolex or a Chopard, or a Cartier isn’t necessarily a watch person, but someone wearing a Hamilton, a Bulova, a Christopher Ward, now that’s definitely a watch person.

·

Everything other than a Rolex. 😂

·

Baltic 👍

·

I try not to pre-judge. You just never know. People that assume the worst about a Rolex owner are just as bad as the person who buys a watch because of hype or to show off on IG.

·

Pretty much anything other than Rolex, Omega, even Tudor, Cartier, and Seiko (not including Grand Seiko here). I might throw in Tag as a not completely safe brand to make assumptions about . . . and 90s/early 2000s Breitling when they lost their way. I saw someone say Baltic . . . and honestly? They might not even be that safe . . . Baltic and Tissot are both brands that I feel like someone might encounter if they approached a random AD and asked "Just looking for a nice affordable watch" . . . of course I'm basing this on some specific experiences of an AD knowing Baltic but not knowing what I was wearing on my wrist (a Nomos). I think most other brands probably show that the person has done even a little bit of digging?

So . . . Nomos definitely . . . Any Glashutte watch company. But really anything other than the biggies are probably gonna signal someone has explored the depths of what else is available.

I once encountered a hipster barista with a tremendous mustache compliment my Nomos . . . I took that as as sign that my watch was sufficiently obscure enough for most people haha.

what's brand name of this watch?

·

A Pagani Design, a SteelDive, or an AddiesDive.

·

You are not necessarily into watch when wearing a Seiko, but you must be considered a watch nerd and into watches when wearing an SLA model from Seiko or King Seiko

·

Just about any small or microbrand.

·

Any micro.

·

Junghans, Edox, or even a Citizen since they probably made that choice sanely over Seiko.

I agree! But someone having a Rolex (which I own and love) does not necessarily mean he/she is a watch person. And also! Owning a Rolex and not being a watch person doesn’t say anything negative about that person!!! 😉😉😉

You are correct!

God I love that watch… but for some reason I don’t end up buying nice dress watches… I used to own a Visodate and ended up getting bored

If you see a guy with Credor in Japan, it doesn’t tell you anything other than he is rich so get him buy you a drink😂

Most people wearing a Seiko Turtle its a safe bet. Actual divers don't generally use the things and most non geeks want something more sleek.

A bartender at my favorite bar had on Bertucci one day, Cartier Santos one day, and then she had tanned Seiko Arnie on other day. I knew she was one of us. Too bad she doesn’t work there anymore.

Kurono

Am guessing that if you notice that someone has a different watch on their wrist from day-to-day, then it's a safe bet that they might be a watch-nerd! And, if you're noticing this, then it's an even safer bet that you might be one too! LOL!!
