I bought a Couple of Benchmark suede (one black, one brown) straps and I love how my watches look completely different with them, breathing new life into them. They are rather inexpensive as well!
That alpinist is really something! I’d go for that. If you want to go for a diver, you should consider the Bulova Milships. Incredibly classy, and well within your budget. I’d get the third party movement option. It is half the price of the other version!
I love cars and I love watches, but I don’t think brand associations influence at all my purchases. For example, I love McLaren, and they are associated with Richard Mille, yet you’d find me dead before wearing one of their appalling bling machines. I love F1, yet I dislike Rolex.
I do try to match sometimes. I wear my vintage watches when driving my vintage BMW. I try to wear a watch that matches my leather jacket when I’m out and about on my motorcycle and so on.
