Small Wrist Speedy

Anybody else love wearing their Speedmaster even though it is likely too large for their wrist? If they made a 38-39mm affordable speedy pro I would likely get it!

There is an article on Hodinkee about a writer who bought one knowing it was larger than what is considered acceptable for their wrist and just doesn't care.

Kudos to them

This is a reduced version of what you ask for.

And something you didn't ask for.  Doesn't wearing a slightly bigger watch make you feel more grown up?  From someone that has yet to grow up or admit their age..

Always been aware of the reduced but the slight dial differences made me not go for it. Want an exact copy of the pro, but slimmed down a few mm! Not much to ask for! Would sell like hot cakes.

My understanding is that the 42mm diameter is actually a bit of a misnomer - from bezel edge to bezel edge it's actually 40mm!

Yep it defonitely doesn’t wear like a 42mm. I’ve worn it side by side with my 42mm SMP and there is a massive difference in visual size.
The Speedy feels like 39/40 and the bracelet is so comfortable it hugs the wrist.

You might want the fois version or the 60th anniversary version :) not that far from a pro in price by much

·

If you're not too bothered about not having a bracelet, take a look at the First Omega in Space. Not in production any more, but only recently discontinued so not difficult to source.

You may already know this, but in 2006 Omega changed the dial of the reduced to more closely mimic the Pro. It's still not an exact match, but it's closer than the original reduced. Those versions are harder to find since they were only made for a few years, but they can be had for a decent price.

They do a speedmaster reduced at 39mm which still looks similar to the 42mm moonwatch.

The FOIS with its 39.7mm case for the win for the small wrist folks out there!

I got skinny wrist problems too. I can hardly ever wear bracelets either

·

The 2021 speedy update has a shorter lug to lug and female end links; both of which reduce the perceived and felt size on the wrist.

I also suffer from the cruelty of small wrists... I did not like the feel of the normal speedmaster on wrist so got the reduced.  The look is pretty much the same but the movement is very different.

·

Speedy reduced is the way to go.  Large wrists are also a curse, just sayin'

Speedy Pro on my 5.9-6" wrist. I don't really care...

I just got the new Speedy Pro and even though I’m only a 6.5” wrist, I still think it looks good because it’s a tool watch and meant to look like that. Also, I think with the asymmetrical case, I think it wears more like a 40mm, especially with the new bracelet.

They no longer make the reduced version, but they do make a 38mm version. If I remember correctly, it’s automatic and has the co-axial escapement unlike the original Speedy Reduced.

Looks like the perfect size for your wrist!

I mean I have a 6.5 inch wrist and I have tried on the 42mm omega a few times and it feels very comfortable on wrist. I would love to have one just don't have that kind of dough on me at the moment.

I previously had a Speedy Auto from the 90s that was very comfortable, 38mm, triple date with a fantastic bracelet And sunburst blue dial.

Thank you. I've saved the reference for later purchase :-).

6.25 wrist - it felt like major lug overhang and total nonstarter when I tried on a 2020 model.

Haven’t considered it since, but may try on one of these new smaller ones if I see it.
