The watch you wear in the Delivery Suite??

So my buddy‘s wife is booked in for a c-section tomorrow (it’s their first) and he just messaged me asking a perfectly normal question…

”Which watch do I wear to the hospital?”

to which I gave a perfectly normal response

”You mean you’re not packing a watch roll?”

In all seriousness the advice I gave was “Wear your most indestructible piece! It was g-shock for me when game time came with our second.” You can just see in the pic below…

I feel like there are too many jokes to be had if we start talking about how you can only wear a diver (! 🤣 !), but I’m curious… has anyone gone rogue and worn a special / fragile piece at the birth of one of their kids?

Shocking stories in 3,2,…

I wore my Lejour Chronograph when my twins were born.

Considering blood in the quantities involved makes me very queasy, I'm a waiting room dad. I really don't want to add any surplus external bodily fluids to the room. Therefore, any watch would be a birthing watch for me.

·

I chose that which Ive been thru the most with in my life. I felt it was the only watch worthy of such an important moment.

This post had it all: life, comedy, and watches!

I sadly did not wear a watch to my first born, it was during COVID though so it was a crazy mess. If I did it over or had another I would probably go with a GSHOCK or Casio. Something with a timer and alarms basically as that's the most useful IMO.

Wish I could have been in the waiting room.

That’s a lot of bodily fluids. You definitely want an ISO rated diver!

·

I wasn't interested in watches when my kids were born, but if I were doing it today I would wear a special piece to make it even more special.

·

If it's a natural birth, the amount of goo that is involved makes it unlikely that I would use any watch in the delivery room (G-Shock included).  Both my kids were natural births, and I was naked wristed both times.

·

Dunno about you guys!! But a watch is the last thing in my mind when it comes to birth of my kids … don’t be selfish it’s never about you!! It’s about your wife!! Jesus Christ Mary and Joseph!! bunch of selfish pricks!!

btw i wore an Apple Watch 😉, also looks great in a blue suit…

I have photos from my wife's c-section.  The nurse that was near her head where I was also sitting said, "dad.. get up there and take some pics.."  I was nervous so I just did what I was told.  They are horrifying......

Lol wuss…the c section isn’t bad the natural births are something else my man!! 🤯😵‍💫 cannot be unseen lol

You should be timing the contractions and wearing a Diver...you know in case they hand you slimy little thing.

·

If I could go back, I'd buy me a nice, new Longines and after the birth, store it away for 18 years.  Never wear it again.

·

I know this is a thing with watch collectors, but I don't honestly remember what watch I was wearing when my kids were born.  Given how frantic both times were (my second was born just 9 minutes after getting to the hospital), it was not really top of mind.

I've mostly convinced myself I wore a Cartier Roadster Chronograph both times...but I'd be lying if I told you I was being truthful.

·

You should not wear a watch to a birth because of increased infection risk. Especially when you know there is a C-Section, that's an operation.

That being said. I think wore my Oris Sixty-Five (which I've sold) for the birth of my youngest. Non for the oldest because the madness had not take hold of me yet.

Watches don't carry a bigger meaning for me like that 🤔

Well, I'm more of the persuasion not to meet my offspring till they come back from boarding school and we can discuss politics, the viability of nuclear fusion technology, as well as the new range of Christopher Ward's.

I think there is a clock on the wall, so this is all optional. Someone records the time of birth. They don't make you do that. I favor midwifery BTW.

When my daughter was born, she decided to turn breech in the delivery room.  She was delivered by cesarean section.  I wore my Orange Orient Mako.
