Came across this IWC Mark 18 Saint Exupery Edition for USD3100. Brand new too. Really tempted to pull the trigger on it. What do you guys think?

I also stumbled across this reference. I'm very intrigued, but have to see it in the metal first. The sunray dial is either great or ghastly.

I'm looking for a user mk18 in blue so a definite yes from me. Not sure I would pay full retail (I wouldn't) but just about the best option of it's type IMO.
That’s a great piece at a great price, I would go for it if I didn’t have a blue one already. BTW: imo the date placement is an absolute non-issue when you see the watch in person. You rarely look at any watch 100% head-on for long enough to measure all proportions on the dial and judge them…or maybe that’s just me.

I do not have anything against #iwc , but I do not see the appeal for this model.
It had a purpose with pilots from the last decade who needed legible time.
Apart from that, I just do not see how that fits into today's lifestyle.
I am only one person and not the person who would have to live with it, so evaluate my input accordingly.
The crown, though, is nice.
The L2L is a bit large, but go for it if you like it :)
It's a no brainer - go for it!
I agree with @Clockwerk and @Inkitatus I would want to see this in the metal to see the sunray dial and I would prefer this without a date as well. BUT, at the end of the day, it’s your choice, if you’re really really feeling strongly towards getting it, I say go for it!
An IWC for circa $3,000, sounds like a buying opportunity to me 😮

Yeah. I’m usually like that. The watch must give me that feeling of owning it. This watch was actually a watch I wanted to own for many years, but the opportunity never really presented itself and I moved on from it. But seeing it available brand new after all these years is making me really consider it.

I Love Brown Dials. Very few watches have them. I would go for it .
