Japan Don Quiote Watch hunt! A series about finding great watch deals at Don Quiote specifically! Part 1

So my earlier post about me buying an Omega Seamaster Railmaster at Don Quiote in Japan really got me perplexed at the availability and price of watches at this unlikely store for luxury watches. I’ve decided to enter any donki that I happen to come across on my daily routine to just see if there’s anything else interesting.

So today! I was with some friends, showing them around Shinjuku. We got some Ramen and had coffee at a nice cafe. Then we passed by a donki. Perfect!

The Donki in Shinjuku is ridiculously cramped. It’s like a tight labyrinth of the most random things. The Shinjuku store has 4 floors.

I had to squeeze through loads of people to eventually get to the elevator. Which is then another long wait. Finally got up to the top floor. The watch section is much smaller than my previous post in Roppongi. The seiko section was noticeably smaller.

Nothing really stands out here. Though the Citizen Tsuyosas are currently on a nice 20% discount. Priced at ¥46,400/USD$310/SGD$424.

There is also a very tiny Tag Heuer and Longines Section.

Finally I’m at the Omega section. It is a little bit bigger compared to my previous post about the Donki at Roppongi. However there wasn’t anything too crazy in terms of deals. Though it is still noticeably cheaper than what you can get almost anywhere in the world I feel.

Here are some photos of what’s on display. There are some notable ones in this bunch.

Such as the Omega Seamaster 300 Professional in silver with the bracelet.

Pretty good price at ¥528,000/USD$3530/SGD$4823.

There’s also an Omega Seamaster Railmaster on the bracelet at ¥338,000/USD$2260/SGD$3100

The white dial is available too

Another interesting piece is this

Not really sure which Speedmaster this is. But it looks likes good deal for ¥398,000/USD$2660/SGD$3650.

There’s also an Aqua Terra and a Speedmaster 57. Priced at ¥428,000/USD$2860/SGD$3910 and ¥538,000/USD$3600/SGD$4920 respectively.

Overall there aren’t many standouts but prices are still great if you are looking to get an Omega. These prices aren’t gonna stay this way for too long I don’t think. The yen will probably bounce back next year.

I will keep looking for deals and post it here. If anyone wants to visit the stores that I post about. All the information will be here.

Happy hunting!

One of my fave YouTube things to watch are random videos of ppl walking around Tokyo and I see stores like this all the time in those. I always thought they sold snacks and wacky t shirts, but looks like you can get anything there!

·

Thanks for sharing! Will be in Japan next month and I always make a pilgrimage to Don Don Donki, but haven't actually made any purchases yet. Maybe this time...?

·

You should do this as an ongoing series…also exchange rates are so good right now. $1USD =~150 YEN

·

After your post last week I did the same :), I think I probably visited 5 Don Quijote over the weekend 😀

The most interesting were

  • MegaDonki in Shibuya

  • Kabuchiko

  • Roppongi

but sadly I could not find the same offer you found for the Railmaster at less than 300,000 yen. That must have been the last one!

At MegaDonki in Shibuya there’s still a Railmaster with denim strap at 338,000 yen, which is a decent price (although I’d get the bracelet version at 371,000 at that point) - all the price I report btw are tax included since I can’t buy tax free

Another model that can be found at good prices is the Aquaterra GMT (discontinued now) at 503,000 yen

Image

but you can find it for less at Jack Road in Nakano broadway at 460,000 yen

Anyway, it was fun!

This is really cool to see (although kind of overwhelming!) thank you!

This should be a series where Crunchers from around the world document their local shopping experience. This is so different than what it looks like in the states.

·

thanks for sharing. A pity, I was just in may for a week in Shinjuku w/o knowing about Donki.

Is Donki an AD for Omega, Longines, Heuer, etc. or is Donki a grey market dealer?

I bought a crap ton of JPY in the off chance I go to Japan to watch hunt! 🤣

·

Gosh, dude! I see your pictures and I immediately have all the sounds, the smells, the millions of people, everything in my had. I can literally hear, smell and feel your post 🙈.

Even my rusty Japanese is kicking in demanding to be remembered and trying to emerge for being spoken again 😬.

I had this issue with your first post already, but it's even stronger this time 🤯. Incredible.

·

So jealous, wish I could see Japan.

Unfortunately, prices have gone up. For the Seamaster, substantially too (from 550,000 to 700,000 in most cases). But I would advise going to the lesser known Donki locations. Not in the major touristy areas. Then again not all Donkis have a luxury watch section, so some hunting is required.

Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up man! Well, prices have gone up worldwide, so I will jusy be looking for a good deal relative to market prices. Which Donki(s) in particular would you recommend?

Roppongi, Shinjuku is a good place to start. I’ve not checked out the donkis in eastern tokyo yet. So there might be some good deals there. The Yokohama mega donki in Minato Mirai unfortunately didn’t have a luxury watch section. There are still deals to be found, just gotta hunt for them.

Also you can shop elsewhere too, such as watchnian, daikokuya, moonphase and Ginza rasin. Great deals there with the weak yen now.
