Vostok Amphibia Exhibition Caseback!

I finally did it and bought an exhibition caseback for my Vostok Amphibia. Some would argue it's pointless as the movement is so rudimentary - but I don't care :) there's something about being able to see the hard as nails movement - which has low QC scratches on it - that I love. Bought it from Meranom and it took just two weeks to arrive from Chistopol in Russia, which I was very surprised about. Doesn't add much thickness at all and was very easy to fit myself with just a caseback removal tool.

I modded a few of mine the same way.  At the time I did mine meranom didn't have any in stock so I got mine from poljot24.de.  Just remember the water resistance isn't as good with these installed so if you go in the water with your vostok (I don't) then stick with the solid caseback.

I agree that there's something satisfying in watching the behind-the-scenes working of a watch, and not all of us have the money or desire to buy a fancified watch.  Keep doing what you like, you'll be happier that way.

·

I totally agree. When I ordered mine I added the caseback to the order. The mistake I made was that I ordered the one with the scuba dude on it. Nevertheless, I love it.

Love it and love that you love it!

I normally don't care for exhibition case backs, but there is something more enticing about a movement that was never meant to be displayed. It's more industrial, raw, honest.

·

Any movement is fascinating to see in operation. Decorated or not.

You can now see the history and there's nothing wrong with that👍👍👍

there is no suchs things as rudimentary movement. i remember first time i saw a 7s26 at my seiko snk809 and im fascinated by it

·

Oh wow! I’m going to look into this for my own Amphibia.

·

Love it,  I’m in the states and was blocked on buying from that site so I went through Favinov and acquired parts for a original classic’80’s Vostok, took over a month

You won't regret it. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to dress it.

Be careful though the edges are sharp as hell 😬

·

I'll be honest, it looks better than I thought it would. There are far more expensive display casebacks that have way less interesting movements to look at (Tudor, I'm looking at you).

·

got one at home as well, but i aint using it.

it adds just too much thickness to the watch.

·

I did the same with my Vostok some months ago, havent gone back, plus I use it while rafting or swimming so its definitely held up!

Very interesting to be able to see it in that mod version.
