Though 41mm is a bit large for me, I love everything about it. Purple is my favorite color, so that’s what I’m opting for.

It's a pretty good looking watch, better than I expected actually. You are going to have to wait nearly 6 months to get one though

Being a fan of Jody, a man very loved in our community, coupled with this watch being such a great value, the wait isn't an issue. Easy adjust clasp, BGW9, sapphire, solid link bracelet with screws, etc... just fantastic. It's not everyday you can get access to a clasp like that for $300.

·

I was wondering about Jody's watch brand. Nice looking lineup and decently priced.

·

Apart from the movement I'm a fan, the movement requires more thickness than I'd prefer.

12.7mm thickness is good for a diver. And with a timegrapher, the NH35A can be regulated to -5 to +5 or better at home.

·

Between this and Zelos releasing new Swordfish models, I could probably use the bezels to count all the monies I have left.

·

I also like that he includes a picture of the measurements, but he did miss some!

No kidding. I just purchased a Tudor BB54, a Seiko 38mm solar, parts for an SKX013 mod, and parts for a Seiko 5KX mod (completed today). That's about $6k lol. The wifey said no more watches this year, or I'm in the doghouse.

Sure, but I prefer thinner... I'm not saying it's a bad watch, but a Miyota 9015 would have added a few dollars but made the watch even thinner.

·

Just watched the video, not a bad looking watch.

·

“Heh-lohwwwwwww!”

·

I like what I saw. It’s a bit bigger than I would prefer. I’m planning to wait and see how it looks on some similar sized wrists before committing to it.

·

Got my order in already. It’s a great looking watch and a great value.

Agreed. I prefer 40mm and under. My ideal case is between 37mm and 39mm. It has a good lug to lug. I think 40mm would have been a better middle ground to please the midsize and large watch lovers.

·

I like Jody. But I am not a dive watch person. I would go for the white if I were to buy one.

The microbrand diver market is so saturated, and on top of that he's taking such a safety-first approach of amassing a bunch of money before the watches are even made, that it shows the effort needed to even get a 'no-brainer' concept over the line successfully. Throw in variables like women who are interested in dive watches and making tiny dive watches for them, and the market for that, from a start-up microbrand, would be microscopic and not worth the effort. Womens divers are best left to the likes of Seiko and Citizen.

Where women might be served by Erebus in the future, is if Jody does something dressy in 38mm. It's still going to wear large(r) on a woman, depending on ones overall dimensions I guess, but I don't see him going any smaller than that on future releases for men, and I don't see him doing a specialist womens line at all. For the kind of little enterprise he has going, the sales just wouldn't be there to make it viable.

Oh yeah, definitely. I agree with all the above stated. Also,he has to start somewhere, he can't please all. However, on a more generic topic, if the watch industry won't change its offerings to women, how can we expect them to want timepieces other than smart watches and fashion brands? The supply has to change too.

Unfortunately for you, the wristwatch industry doesn't cater to females. And it shows. A lot of luxury brands that offer automatic watches for men will offer only quartz pieces for women. Another issue: most women these days are wearing smart watches, or cheap fashion watches. Hence there is not a big market for female consumers. This is corroborated by a lack of female watch reviewers on YT, forums, etc. I personally like watches under 40mm.

This is also true. I'm in a difficult position when hunting for new watches. Mostly what watch brands offer to women are either jewellery watches, or downgraded versions of what they offer for men.

As for YouTube, besides Jenni Elle I don't know any serious watch reviewers. Sadly she's not operating in the affordable field.😅 I like how Teddy Baldassare makes a yearly video about top 20 ladies' watches. I wish more YouTubers did the same, just once a year, to acknowledge their female subscribers. Release it sometime before Christmas, and it can be a helpful guide for guys get a nice gift for the significant others and get more women in the hobby 😉

Well this is what I was saying about divers; if a woman wants a diver right now (at a good price), then head straight for Citizen or Seiko, which do make great women's divers. If they want to splash out a bit of cash, grab an Oris. Some incredible 36mm divers for women in that range. My point being, that women have some pretty great choices for divers; the above examples aren't exhaustive. But getting a microbrand to go there will always be tricky. Most of them run on slender margins, and don't sell a whole lot of watches to begin with, so branching into an area that some might be passionate about, but not in great numbers, just isn't good business sense for microbrands to go near. For the larger companies, it's more doable.

There’s my favorite: Elizabeth Grant. She’s taking a break, but she’ll be back. She reviews affordable to entry level luxury. Ashley Tee is another. She reviews affordables. There’s a few others, but there’re not consistent. Rarely upload.

WILL HAVE to take a look I enjoy Jody's Content, His work is always interesting and a value add. Let's see what moans and niggles we have👍

agreed

·

Hmm… Yes it technically “ticks all the boxes” but misses the most important one: giving me something I don’t already have. Might buy it anyway just because Jody is such a nice chap.

I hope Elizabeth Grant recovers soon. She did such a great job.

I like the channel and I like Jody. I respect him for taking the leap and starting his own brand. I don't care for the name at all. It's an oddity that I'm having a hard time getting over. I also think the watch itself feels a tad bit generic. To be fair, there's only so many ways to make a decent looking dive watch. Overall, I'd say I'm indifferent but I have respect for taking on the challenge.

·

I like the blue and yellow dials most. It’s a great beginning for the co. Hope he and his partner make piles and piles of cash. Listening to Jody’s show makes the morning commute go a little bit quicker so I wish him luck.

I'm with you 100%, good luck to him. Sadly, it does nothing for me.

·

Gotta say it's a win. Nice one Jody, mind, Erebus? Really? Ho hum, they look cool

·

Pulled the trigger on the blue Pelagos looking one. 41mm but a fairly short lug-to-lug. I said no more watches after summer, but this is number 3 in a month's time... 🤪

·

I would say it's fine, nothing special. It looks OK, has good specs, reasonably priced but nothing to make me want it over any other diver.
