Dive watch options

Hey all Crunchers,

Just wondering what you all think on dive watches: do you like rubber dive straps, NATO straps, or bracelets better on your diver? And does the exact make and model of dive watch matter to if you like any specific style of strap?

I voted NATO only because MN style straps weren't in the options.

I think actual "tool" watches make the most sense on comfortable, compliant, and secure nylon straps.

I forgot about those. I just put the ones I know best and use. Just a curiosity

I forgot about sailcloth, I'm sorry!

I prefer bracelet most of the year, but in the very hot summer days I find rubber lighter and easier to wear.

Bracelet > Rubber > Sailcloth > MN > NATO

·

I enjoy NATOs a lot simply because it’s easy to switch up the look. Bracelets are a close second because they’re robust.

·

Rubber all the way for me. Bracelets tend to add weight that I can't appreciate in more active settings. For all the NATOs I've had, once they get wet, the fibers loosen and require adjustment. Not to mention how long they take to dry. Wet straps = uncomfortable me

·

I love Natos but if I am using the watch around water regularly then I would go rubber as its more practical.

·

I rotate through depending on how I’m feeling. I have a Seamaster Diver 300 on a bracelet but I also bought a Bark & Jack nato in addition to a rubber Omega strap. I like all three just at different times.

·

Bracelet for land, NATO for sea

·

I love all of the above. I guess rubber is my favorite if I do something active with the diver. Nato when I swim. A bracelet for home or casual stuff, I like the bracelet a bit loose in that case.

·

I like bracelets on all my dive watches except for the seikos I have I mostly wear them on rubber straps

My answer would be “anything but NATO.”

MN straps are not NATO straps so they are totally cool with dive watches.

What's wrong with NATOs?

100% agree! I find NATOs and pass through perlon straps always require readjustment when they get wet. Last thing I want to do when I'm in the water is to unhook the clasp and risk losing it. @nickmankeydesigns Hook Straps would be an exception here because they can be adjusted while on wrist and are, in general, amazing!

Thanks for the shout. I approve this message! I think this is prime territory for one of my Pro elastic FBV3 (fixed bar compatible) Hook Strap models. Throw a Tether Module in there and you are ready for anything!

·

D... All of them and I mix it up.

·

Depends on the watch. Dive watches are notoriously bulky (part of the allure) NATO straps can create a snug fit BUT the weight of the watch digs into my wrist. There's nothing better feeling than a solid stainless steel or Titanium bracelet on wrist. Over time the get beat up, possibly jangle and require adjustments from time to time . I like rubber or sailcloth

·

I like them all and am regularly switching my dive watches between all.

I love the desk diver/pretty tank aesthetic of my Aragon on it's supplied bracelet. I am however looking to try an fkm rubber. Just to switch it up and see how it feels.

Any suggestions on this strap

Mesh or bracelet when it hot ( the term "summer" doesn't apply in wet cold England) & NATO when it's cold.

Really dislike rubber/silicone

·

As an active sailor, I've always preferred a sailcloth strap.

·

Really interesting survey! I always buy the watch on bracelet but predominantly wear my divers on nato

·

Anything but leather works for me.

·

Depends on the particular watch.

Does anyone know of a company that makes 18mm tropic straps? It seems all of the tropic style rubber straps I’m seeing are 20mm and over.

I have two dive watches; silicone strap on one and leather on the other. I don't get the one with the leather strap wet but I use the timing bezel for cooking and exercise. The timing bezel is my favorite complication.

I got a silicone 18mm strap on Amazon - Brand is Barton.
