GMT Prototype Update! Start to taking shape.

Hello Watchcrunchers!

Here is a picture of the prototype case on my wrist, I am very happy with the way it looks!

(Yes I know, I wear my watch on my right wrist. I'm left-handed, if that's any excuse)🤣

I should get the movement from Switzerland this week, and after that I will proceed with the production of the dial sample.

I am a little late with the strap, what you see in the photo is a temporary one.

What do you guys think?

Ciao!

Patrick

It’s a great start. What are the dimensions? Curious if there is a bezel on this and how it would work?

·

I like that oval shape. It fills the wrist without taking up half of your forearm, if that makes sense. Very nice, curious to see how it looks with the dail in place.

·

I really like it - has a Genta sensibility about it. Looks like you are off to a great start. Looking forward to seeing the dial too!

·

That’s a minimalist watch

·

You don’t need an excuse to be left handed.

Hi @SpecKTator ! Here below the dimensions.

Due to the oval form there is no rotating bezel, so you are able to set 2 time-zones.

  • 42x35mm

  • 11mm thickness.

  • 50mm Lug to lug

If somebody asks you what time it is you can tell them it's a quarter to a hair

I completed my homage version of your watch earlier too. 😉

What an honor, already the homage watches😂

Wow. Awesome looking. Will you be selling any? And if your are, how much?

Initially I was thinking to make this watch just for me, as a hobby and share my journey with you enthusiasts. Now my head is kind of dreaming about selling it. But since it is a prototype, it is not perfect, and to sell it, it has to be well made.(I would be my first client so it has to be perfect😂) There is a lot of work to be done!

To summarize:

I would love to sell it, but there also has to be a major investment to get it done right.

Never say never!

·

The proportions are good even if I think a 3/4 scale version would fit just about everyone better.

·

Probably out of my price range, but I had to follow just to keep updated on your progress. From the looks alone I feel like this will be a well received piece. 👍🏾

·

Keep us posted. Love that case.

·

Looks promising, ngl

·

Looks like you are on the right track.

Not sure if it would interest you but watchgang, I know not the most respected site, has a competition going on to help those with an idea start a watch brand. I have not looked into it at all so I know nothing of the terms. Here is a link. https://form-data.typeform.com/watchgang?utm_campaign=Watch%20Competition%20Clarify-%20Campaign%20-%20Jul%2010%202023%2010%3A37%20AM%20%2801H50E3N9A3QFPV772DPRCE1DH%29&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Opened%20Watch%20Competition&_kx=K3KVJ0Pb4QXI0qW0yWjYd7K7Nlj5RAWqHnD3KgS9tKg%3D.JGGaLH

Are you looking to sell these or is this just a one off venture?

I appreciate you're quite far along on the prototyping, and this might not be feedback you want. But it's a cool looking product that I'd love to see on the market, so I feel duty bound to share my honest feedback:

The overall design is interesting and modern, I like it.

Square watches are very difficult to size, so potential buyers will rely on reviews, if the sizing isn't right, it's going to be tough to convert folks.

I would say a 50mm lug-to-lug is too long though - it looks too large on your own wrist with a hint of gap between wrist and lug end.

Have a quick scan through the WRUW section and you'll see many WC nerds have sub 7inch wrists (and most will add a quarter inch or two if we're honest!)

47-48mm is much more wearable and opens your market to a far larger audience.

Thank you @ImNevix!

I really appreciate your help! I have read the terms in detail and unfortunately there are some conditions that I cannot accept. But definitely an interesting initiative!

Hi @XplusYplusZ !

Thank you for your onest and professional feedback. That's why I decided to share the project on WC✔

It started out as a personal one-off project, but I can't hide the fact that it would be nice to turn it into a small brand. (If the market responds well)

Regarding your feedback, I completely agree with you. 💯

I was already planning to slightly reduce the lug to lug distance In case I find the funds to develop small-scale production💪

Glad to have been able to share. Like I said had not read the terms, and still have not, but figured sharing info in the off chance it might be useful to you was the least I could do since I knew of the contests existence.
