First watch you bought for your better half

It has been 20 years since I bought her this Datejust. It still looks perfect like day one.

What is the very first watch you bought for the love of your life?

The first was $65 gamble on Chinese horology. The next was the Pink Pig Watch. #pinkpigwatch

A bulova “tank” style quartz about 20 years ago. Didn’t have 2 nickels to rub together but I stretched for the $300. She still wears it to this day.

·

Aladdin themed Citizen. It's one of her favorite movies, the strap is her favorite color, and she loves the glittery mother of pearl dial with gold tone filigree. I just added a deployant clasp and she wears it on special occasions or date nights.

Some kind of Sekonda dress watch, or maybe Rotary. I've probably bought her half a dozen over the years, a VC a couple of years ago, and Mr Jones "...Useless Afternoon" last year.

Walked into the AD because I wanted a yellow OP for myself. 2 weeks later they called me and said ‘we have the watch your wife liked..’

·

This Hamilton Ventura. Turns out I let the watch collecting genie out of the bottle!

Good on you. I don't buy mine that many.

Let's be honest about it - when it's Christmas or birthdays, if in doubt, buy some jewellery 😉 I'm just being lazy!

First anniversary gift in July 2006, Rolex Datejust. I actually bought 3 options with the plan to return 2. She returned all 3 and picked this one out. Back when there were watches for sale at the AD!

Never had to buy her one!

A stainless steel Cartier Santos.

·

Got her this Casio Sheen for her first birthday after we were engaged

Lovely lady datejust. As much as I would love to buy my wifey a watch, she doesn't like them lol.

·

A Fitbit, that's all that she'll wear 😁

·

My wife doesn’t like watches I tried to get her into them but it just wasn’t happening

Later followed by a Hermes and a Van Cleef & Arpels... 😁

Baby-G Square "Summer Lover Honey". It's her colour.

Oh wow that's beautiful, i would wear it as a dress watch tbh

·

The first watch I ever got my wife (then girlfriend) was this little Skagen around 6 years ago.

Image

The first fancy watch I got her was this Junghans as a push-present 😍

Next is a Nomos, but not quite sure when and why yet🤪

It's definitely one of the better Disney collaborations. She's not a watch person but she'll wear it when we're feeling fancy.

Gave it to her right after our first look on our wedding day.

I bought a quartz 35mm PRX for my gf for her 30th birthday.

Seiko Metronome (she does indeed play the piano) and it shifted her attitude towards "these way too expensive", but only time telling watches - she's a runner so it was impossible to part her form her Garmin. But where's a will, there's a way.

If it helps, tell her the OP is also a runner and he has three Garmin forerunners and more than 20 non-runners watches.

Waaahaha, she's hooked too, but a bit "picky" and always goes "uuu, that's nice" for the 20-30k and up ones 🥲🥲🥲

She has always loved Longines (a big fan of Audrey Hepburn) so I got her this on holidays in Paris many years ago.

Love that classic look.

Bought my gf a F91W jellyfish and she bought me an AQ800 for our first anniv.

That's sweet!

A Tag Heur Carrera back in the 2000's. Then a Cartier Panthere in the 2010's. Both sit unused in drawer except for occasions but that's ok (I'm not ok. But that's ok too)

At least they'll look like brand new when you decide to pass them on as family heirlooms.

The first one was Longines neo vintage two tone, very simmilar to your picture. Then followed Cartier Tank and last was Casioak.
