High-Low Collections

So with the recent release of the Q Timex GMT and the Moonswatch, it got me thinking about what an all low end collection alternative to a high dollar high horology collection might look like.

This is what I've come up with so far.

I tried to shy away from Chinese homages because I was thinking about beginner recommendations and I don't like starting someone off on Aliexpress (plus I thought it would be too easy.)

What other high-low watches would you recommend to a prospective WIS?

I see the Orient and it reminds me more of this watch, especially with the Breguet handset

hahahah, I was going to do a similar post, precisely inspired by the Timex GMT and MoonSwatch!

I think the Tissot PRX does an excellent job of covering the '70s luxury sports watch vibe of the Patek Philippe Nautilus, Vacheron Constantin Overseas, and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.

Ooo good one, though I would go with the quartz one and am eagerly awaiting a 36mm one 😀

is the prx more like vacheron 222 than overseas? 😀

Both really, since the 222 inspired the design of the Overseas 🔥 But yes, it definitely has 222 vibes too!

And here I was thinking it was an oyster quartz homage... 😏

I did this.  I wanted the Hamilton that Roger Moore wore in Live and Let Die for about one minute in the movie, but didn't want to spend that, so I went with the Armitron Griffy.  Great watch.

And this one.... which I'm going for myself. I need to see what the Mondia quality is like though.

Not seen this one before, looks interesting but I was never really a fan of the milgauss myself so not surprising I haven't seen it.

Here is my Islander #ISL-38, a pretty nice homage. 😀

I like how it's kinda a Datejust mixed with a SARB case.

That is exactly what Marc was going for when he released these. 😀

I see it loosely but the Lorus case gives me more Timex vibes in design than Rolex.

Holy Moly! That's one heck of a list!

I can think of some other alternatives to those as well

Haha, well, in this case the last one should be Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Ceramic Perpetual Calendar skelton Ref number 26585CE.OO.1225CE.01 or Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon Extra-Thin Black Ceramic Ref. 26522CE 😂😂😂

Fair point, though I think the skeleton would be better homaged by the casioak jellyfish on principle lol
