Your thoughts!?

So long story short, I originally bought this for my wife. My daughter saw it on her 20th birthday and liked that the fact it had a day and date on it. My wife then proceeded to give this to her as her birthday present. Thoughts on if this watch suits a 20-year-old young lady?

The Khaki King is a classic Hamilton, but not what I think a 20 year old would be interested in.

·

Of course. If she likes it, it suits her. Let her be happy and wear it. Beautiful watch btw, I'm female and I like it too! 😉

·

Thumbs up from me, but isn‘t it a bit big for her with its long lugs?

I agree, thats why i ask people that would know! But try talking to the wife???? Its a loosing battle plus its her first watch so I am a little worried that she might destroy it or worst …..loose it!!!

Yes, so I ended up having to remove links so it would “kind of fit “ her wrist! Still as shown in the photo…a little big

I think it suits her just fine if she likes it that is what matters. I think the sentimental factor of it being a gift from her mom will hopefully be kept in mind when it comes to taking good care of it. More than anything you should be proud you have two ladies in your life with great taste in watches!

Yes she does like it ( for now ) but i don’t think I have to tell you how young girls her age get over stuff! Just hope it don’t get forgotten and left at the bottom of her very deep draw never to see sunshine again!🤣

Hmmmmm never thought of it that way! Thanks 🙏

·

Definitely up to her, style is such a personal thing. I wouldn’t see a problem with it, although there’s around 60 million 20 year old ladies in the world and I don’t imagine any of them would have time for the opinion of a 42 year old man as to what suits them or not 🤣

·

If she likes it, who cares what a bunch of dudes online think?

·

I think it’s a great idea! Especially if she likes it so much already. You don’t often come across watches that you like right away or fall in love with that quickly, so it’s one she’ll cherish for a long time! It’s a reliable and durable watch that she can love for sure

·

They're universal, unisex, and timeless. Recommended for anyone and everyone who likes it!

·

I have the khaki somilar to this but without the day comp. 38 and it suits my wife better than me 😤 The good thing is that the neutral dial lends itself to different kind of straps that ladies like. Red or white leather for example

·

Change it to a leather strap that suits her wrists better. She'll love the leather as an accesory and it will feel better on wrist.

·

I used to have this exact watch, but I gifted it to a friend. It was a hard give TBH. It was the perfect everyday watch. I do think it’s more suitable for a man though. But hey, if she likes it then she can rock it.

·

Hell yea it does. Plus she choose a monster in the game of watches. All because of the day date 😂. If she does ever get more into collecting and watching YouTube videos from enthusiasts she will be seeing it talked about a lot. It was meant to be!

·

As long as it fits her, sure. But it is hard to judge when the picture is 90% watch head.

Personally, I would have shown her other options, so that she could get one that fits her and maybe it more her taste. I’d also try to give her an honest view between mechanical and quartz watches, so that she can make an informed choice

·

If she likes it,then it suits her 👏

·

It's a larger watch so the fit might matter. Probably she wants it because it's her moms and is sentimental. There is no wrong watch if she likes it.

Yeah I get it! Can be a little annoying when you purchase a watch and it ends up suiting someone else better….😞

Personally i don’t think she thought about it that deeply, she mentioned that it was “convenient “ that it had the day & date on it.

Good idea, never thought about changing the strap ( due to me being lazy ) but yeah definitely going to do that….if she can make up her 20 year old mind on what strap to have!

·

It is a very cool looking watch and I think she will rock it. For a 20 year old, I would recommend to pair it with Hamilton nato strap rather than bracelet.

Not every 20 year old is cut from the same cloth.

·

To paraphrase a meme, every watch is unisex if you are not a little pussy about it. Suits is a meaningless word.

·

Seiko do one that displays the day (important ) on Amazon for 100z one on left 1981 , on right 2021

True😅 but you know your daughter, and as said before, the emotional value is definitely there. She might not wear it every day, but I'm sure it'll be treasured.

My Mrs picked the Hamilton Khaki King from my collection as her first "real" watch a couple of years ago - now she's got quite a decent collection (Seiko's, Cartier)- & the Hamilton survived a big motorcycle accident with a few gouges and scratches but works fine still.

Its by far her favourite watch. She said it's comfortable, easy to read and looks good (& it's proven to be very tough)

So yes, I'd recommend the Khaki King Auto to anyone. (Coincidentally I gifted a Quartz khaki king to my best mate for his 50th, it lasted 3: years before it died. I've replaced it with the Seiko Alpinist as that'll suit him better)

·

I agree with @Half_Life it needs to be on either a NATO strap, or even a conventional buckle strap, so that she can achieve a proper fit.

As for losing it... She's 20 years old. Cut her a little slack, LOL 🤣

Just my two cents. 👍
