I'm stuck

I'm a budget watch collector (aren't we all) and I have a bit of a dilemma. Do I buy a Seiko King samurai for all my watch budget this year. Or do I get a depth charge GMT and a merkur big eye with some money left over? Please help me

As a veteran of buying 20 watches in 12 months and the best watch being the last of those 20 that I bought (and the most worn since), buying the best one you want when you can is my advice.

Yh the Seiko is a bit of a mini grail but I really appreciate the value of the other two

IMO, value should maybe be one of the last criteria considered in a comparison between 2 watches that you love equally & can't decide between. It should never be the first consideration. and it shouldn't be a consideration in a triangle situation like you have here.

If the King Seiko is a grail-like piece, I feel like that's the one you should go for.

Again, my opinion. YMMV.

I've bought a fair few homages. The quality is usually fine. After four good experiences with Merkur the fifth was an absolute nightmare.

Get the Seiko in that case. The others won't scratch that itch. 😁

Yh but I worry that it won't be as good as I think it will be (never meet your heroes)

Seiko King Samurai. Quality over quantity 💪🏼

·

choose the one that will make you have more fun. I often change my mood, so the quantity is also important

Focus your resources. Quality over quantity. Don’t be a hoarder.

Just some specs for everyone:

Image

Seiko King samurai:

Iso certified, PADI, Sapphire crystal, 4r35, ceramic bezel, the most comfortable rubber strap ever, stunning blue dial, a lot of blue lumibrite.

VS

Image

Merkur Big Eye:

St19, double dome acrylic crystal, nice leather strap, fauxtina 🔥, and also just look at it.

And the depth charge GMT

Couldn't download photo for some reason but look it up.

Flat sapphire crystal, nh34 GMT movement, fixed steel bezel, solid end link and solid link bracelet with milled clasp.

Totally agree - I learned the hard way after buying 200 watches over 2 years that it pushed me further away from my grails. It’s hard , but stay focused and get the watch you desire it’s worth the journey ( even if patience and watch collecting don’t mix lol 😂)

200? That's like 2 a week!

I thought mine at every 2 weeks was out there!

It's your choice, but I am someone who believes Seiko are overpriced. If you are just going to get the one watch, consider a Christopher Ward, or one of the many quality microbrands available
