All you need is a CASIO

I recently picked up a Seiko Captain Willard and couldn't be happier with it, but after the honeymoon period I found myself just wearing my Casio day in day out for weeks. Leaving my mechanicals to run dead. I wondered if anyone else has a similar experience or can relate to this. It's just so easy to wear a Casio compared to other watches.

I hear you, I really appreciate vintage and automatic watches but Casio is my go to 👍

It's different strokes for different folks, and that's partly what makes this hobby interesting. Other than my Rolex and my Golf watch my watches get worn on a fairly strict rota basis according to a spreadsheet. In fact, I never wear a watch two days running unless I am on holiday (vacation). I only own one quartz watch, which is a Yema Rallygraf. As far as Casio watches are concerned, I haven't as yet seen one I like

Not a fan of Casio (or any digital watches in general).

Mechanicals just gimme something more to enjoy (not even necessarily to tell the time). It’s like love, if you’re trying to analyze it, you’re doing it wrong.

But (as with love) each to their own 🍻

Casio is all you need, and I have six, but it may not necessarily be all you want😂

My son in law was a little critical of our family’s mechanical watch hobby, wore and purchased multiple G-Shocks until one day I gifted him a mint fully serviced Breitling black titanium Avenger Blackbird with a rubber strap and special oem coated clasp, the guy suddenly appreciated a different perspective. I am not a Casio guy but doesn’t mean I do not see their value and place in the watch enthusiast community.

You could try one of their analog pieces if that's more your style?

I just don't like them, even the analogue. The bracelets are rubbish, the crystal is mineral, they tend to be huge, the bezels (when applicable) aren't very good, and in many instances the case is plated tin. What's more, in the UK they aren't particularly cheap either. Honestly. I believe for a similar price there are watches on Aliexpress that offer far better value for money

That's fair, I own a couple of Paganis and think they are pretty good

That's an opinion I've not heard about Casio before: other brands have better value for money! Any cheaper and they'd be free. This one was $40 shipped....

The prices in the USA are very different to the UK. Even a Casio Duro costs about $100

·

I mean, do you even need a Casio? Watches are an expression of interest in history, craftsmanship, or style.

Nothing wrong with a Casio. Nothing wrong with wanting something more.

That is a good point. As much as I am envious of certain parts of your culture, I would rather live here, but only just👍
