Born in 1962 in Detroit. I'm a gear-head to the core. I love everything with wheels. Off-roading, fast cars, motorcycles, etc. I always have a vehicle project or two in the works. Professionally I'm a laboratory director. Those working in the laboratory are not permitted to wear jewelry due to high electrical and magnetic fields. I joined the USAF in 1982 and ended up in the lab in 1983. I lost track of my watches after that. I've lived in many places over the years. I ended up in Utah and I believe this is where I will stay. I have a great job, the people are really nice, we have 4 seasons, and the winter is tolerable. (Although the summer is a bit hot for my taste.)
Some of our fellow WatchCrunchers have asked about my cars. In the Tribute to my Father post I spoke of my 68 Gran Sport. After that I had a 64 Gran Sport and then a 68 Mustang Cobra Jet fastback. Then military service and family days came and we went through Volvos, mini-vans, little wagons, etc. When we moved to Utah I purchased a 1969 Jeep Commando and fitted it for off-roading. My every day cay was a 1995 Range Rover. I sold the Jeep to a US Marine, set the RR up for off -roading and bought a Jaguar S type for the wife and a Chevy HHR SS for commuting back and forth to work. Finally I sold the HHR and bought the Pontiac G8 GXP I drive now. It is the last of the great Pontiacs with an LS3 and a manual 6 speed trans. Mine has been lowered a bit and has a few mods. It produces about 475 HP (stock is about 415). It’s not as fancy or as comfortable as a comparable BMW or Merc, but it costs a heck of a lot less and it’s a lot more reliable. Brand new these sold for about 40k and would beat the BMW M5 of the same year in a quarter mile and on the track according to Motor Trend. I cannot get that kind of performance out of it – I’m not that polished as a driver but I did smoke my coworkers Musting GT at the Utah Motorsports Track event last year. That was the only time I took it to the track.
