A few weeks ago, I received an email from Straton Watch Company announcing their newest pair of watches, the Sportiva and Volante. Being a Straton fan I hit the website as soon as I could. These watches are cool and I placed the Sportiva on my personal wish list. While I was on the website the Daily Driver caught my attention (again). (I have a Daily Driver MkII in panda and a Competition Driver in Black & Orange. Photos of these can be seen on my WRUW gallery.) The original Daily Driver seems to use the same case and bracelet as the MkII but has a different dial. This watch has been available for a while so I wasn’t sure which colors would still be in stock. The version D with a black dial sporting grey and orange racing stripes was available and appealed to me, but there were only two left. I new if I wanted it I would have to move quickly. After a couple of days of contemplating the purchase I decided to pull the trigger. It showed up a few weeks ago. It looks better in person than the pictures appear. The watch is 44mm in diameter with a 50mm lug-lug with a 22mm lug width. It’s a bit chunky at 13.7mm but that doesn’t really bother me. The movement is a Miyota 6S21 quartz. This isn’t a mechaquartz but the chronograph hand beats 4 times per second (reference Caliber Corner) and has very positive pusher action. Exactly like the MkII. I really like it and I’m pleased to add it to my racing inspired chronograph collection. Check out the photos.

Good looking watch!
I like the dial, as usual asymmetry speaks to me. It does look quite chunky from the side, bigger than 13.7, but it can be deceiving when not on the wrist.
that's one chunky monkey.
