How does sleeve length affect your choice of watch?

My love for the Flightmaster has never waned one bit since I got it, but I’ve found that I only want to wear it on days when I’m wearing short sleeves. As much as it’s still one of my favorite watches in my collection, I just don’t like how it looks on my wrist when it’s sitting up against a cuff, and by default it’s mostly become a warm weather watch.

Do you have any watches that you only wear with short sleeves, or maybe only with long sleeves (this seems less likely to me, but who knows)?

Ah, I always have my sleeves rolled up - I was a teenager in the 80's and guess the habit stuck 🤣

I tend to wear my solar powered watches more with short sleeves. Aside from that sleeve length has no bearing in what I wear.

Negatory ghost rider. Zero fucks given on any watch for any sleeve. I am a slob of my own making, and thankful the wife still keeps me around.

LOL what @TheSharperTheBetter said. I only wear long sleeves in the winter here in California, but I frequently roll them up anyway.

I just always have to have my sleeves up, almost like a tic that I can’t let them be down. It has to be cold, rainy, or inconveniently made sleeves for them to be down.

I never thought of it as an 80's thing but I guess that it is. I always roll my sleeves.

I tend to mostly wear this Islander during the summer, so short sleeves.

The Flightmaster goes very well with long sleeves, or at least I managed to convince myself that it is so.

I don't really think about sleeves when I select a watch to wear, even the fat one like the two 15mm thick Amphibia or the MSAR and SPB147 at 14mm get their time on my wrist even if I'm wearing a dress shirt with cuffs.

·

for my preference my smallest watches at 36mm look better with a cuffed shirt. with short sleeves I prefer something a little bigger, but that's just me.

Coming from the near perpetual warmth of South Africa, I rarely wear long-sleeve shirts. However, school uniform dictates that I must wear one in the approaching winter months, so I've been experimenting more with dressier pieces lately. I highly doubt that this will last long, because I don't own a watch thick enough to bulge under a cuff or cause any discomfort, so it's a big "no, not really," from me.

I’m not even sure why I don’t like mine with long sleeves. I tend to prefer short sleeves with my larger watches, but I never see someone in the wild wearing a bigger watch with long sleeves and think “my god, that swine, that uncultured troglodyte.” It’s just with me.

And to be fair, I have a lot of oddball idiosyncrasies that my friends and family love to roast me about. 🤷‍♂

That’s similar to how I see it as well, but my threshold is generally along the 40mm line.

I often roll up my sleeves as well (teen during the later ‘80s/early ‘90s), but I’m also a giant weenie when it’s cold, so them sleeves are staying down if it’s below 60. 🥶

Not exactly long sleeves, but if I have to wear layers and gloves in winter I struggle with my thicker G shocks.

Generally, I don't have an issue wearing my flightmaster with long sleeves. However, if I was wearing a nicer shirt, I probably wouldn't grab for, but not because of its size, more because of its appropriateness for the occasion or outfit.

·

Living in the UK with our bad weather it's hard to wear thicker watches in winter due to bulkier clothes and a coat ,so I can't wait for warmer weather to wear thicker watches

·

short sleeves mean bigger watch, usually.

·

I live near the equator and my work doesn't require me to wear shirts and ties frequently. So this issue is kinda moot for me.

·

As so many others, rolled up sleeves.

I don't got a specific short-sleeve watch. But I like some watches better than others during summer.

I did have a FlightMaster as one of the first proper watches I got. I have missed it many times after selling it. Very funky and fun piece 👌
