My cousin’s G-Shock

For context, my cousin died suddenly in 2005 when he was 27. As I was at his mom’s (my aunt’s) house after work today helping her with a couple of things, it came up that I like watches. When she heard that, she walked over to a side table and pulled this watch out of a box, told me that it was my cousin’s, and I could have it if I wanted.

My cousin and I were close for most of our lives, and I’d always thought it was a little sad that I didn’t have anything concrete to remember him by. I love that I now have that, and it’s a watch to boot. Here’s hoping it fires back up when I replace the battery. 🤞

Nice that you’ve got something to remember him by. That’s a great watch I have one too and have near enough wore it for 5 years straight every day before I became interested in mechanical watches. I still wear it for work though.

Fingers crossed this watch didn’t have a silver oxide battery, those leak after expiring. Get some Rodico and wipe the battery chamber before installing a new battery. Try and use a lithium battery, less chance of leaking and damaging your watch.
