I collect affordable watches and if possible, ones with some history behind them. I like Vostok and have three of their's. I have a one-handed, Luch watch from Belarus and a beautiful, English, Elliot Brown. Steeldive, homage watches are great value, as far as I'm concerned. I enjoy my Citizen Promaster Tough, 'Ray Mears' and my Iron Annie, Bauhaus. I have a soft spot for my bright red Casio 'square' watch and my solar, atomic, G-shock. My poshest watch is a quartz Frederique Constant - a gift from my wife.
I have no aspirations towards buying top-end watches - even if I could ever afford them. I have 24 pieces at the moment, a mixture of quartz and automatics. I have made the decision to buy only quartz watches, in the future. I like the fact that they keep very good time, keep ticking for anything between 2 and 10 years, don't need servicing, don't stop and are less expensive. Most importantly, I enjoy them. A lesson that I learned from a wise watch sage, on the net, was that 'almost nobody notices your watch, so buy for yourself and not for others'.
I buy watches for fun and as a hobby. I enjoy watch reviews - but prefer the ones with out the unboxing feature. I am never sure what that is for!
