Old dog trying a new trick
Hey all,
I’ve been hanging around WUS for almost 10 years and wanted to give this a shot. I’ve always worn a watch but got more into it right after I graduated college in 2011 and the Seiko SKX013 was my gateway drug. My journey has had lots of Seiko divers, sturdy Germans, a couple Tudors, a square G for the dirty work, and this year Scurfa has invaded my watch box. The things I value most about watches are the people, interesting stories, and how they become more special the longer I have them and the more I use them (as opposed to most other possessions now). I’ve been here a couple weeks so far and have really enjoyed the positive attitude of this community. It’s encouraging to see the watch community grow over time and I look forward to the great discussions and maybe some meetups in the future!

I have a had a watch on almost my whole life. Most days I find a diver or my square G on my wrist for work, cycling, or sitting on the beach. To me, a watch's value is in the story I've made with it.
Welcome! I just joined a few days ago myself (have yet to do my inaugural "welcome" post) but have found this community quite welcoming and filled with interesting stories/posts. Looking forward to reading more and hopefully meeting some of you soon at an in-person meetup!
Hi Mike - the picture of your Scurfa triggered my interest! Absolutely a great example of the people and the story. This is the only watch forum I am part of and is a really friendly place with some very knowledgable members who are very generous with their time, I have had some valuable help with questions I have asked.

I've been internet window shopping Scurfa for over a year. I like their watches a lot and thought it would be the perfect ocean vacation watch. I haven't bought one purely because I'm on the Helm waiting list and checks the same boxes for me. However, if my Helm number doesn't come up soon Scurfa may be the winner.

If a Scurfa winds up being something you want to pick up, there are some deals to be had second hand. Some of the limited models get snatched up quickly, but others sales stick around and get ‘soft’. However, I hope you get that Helm and would love to hear about it!
