Is Smaller always Better?

I spent a week with the new 36mm Hamilton aviation and it was a rollercoaster of emotions.

I was worried it was too small, but it wore well. By mid week I was in love, but in the end of the video I talk about my conclusions and whether it'd consider it for my collection.

Is that what She said?!…

Sorry @SpecKTator made me say it!!

Not an option for me but if it was I would be loving the no date layout. Just get one and throw it on a nice shark tooth mesh, you will be happy trust me.

You’re right, this watch is unrecognizable from the one Cooper wore. Part of the charm of the Murph is that you can relive Interstellar when you wear it. I’m not crying you’re crying!

Might be a great watch but a hard pass for me.

·

Perfect for me would be to be more period correct to the original B-uhr style watches. I wouldn't expect 50 plus mm but this Hamilton would be perfect at 44 mm with no day/date.

Bigger is better~~~~

I rock 42mm watches with a 6.5 inch wrist ~~~

Oh Baby

·

I have enough small things in my life, don't need a watch as well 😂

·

36mm is not small… seriously; please don’t make us get the charts and graphs out again.

Let me show you my 46mm+

Hahahaha

My wife reassures me that she likes it small.

I have watches of all sizes. They all make me smile and tell me what time it is. Does anything else really matter?

Oooo interesting suggestion 🤔

Thanks for another insightful review.

The sentiment of it dropping the day date being underwhelming compared to the 42 is interesting. Since I do not have any previous knowledge of the 42, I feel like I could add this 36 (or 37 really as you pointed out) to my to-buy list.

I have a 6.75" wrist (60mm width), I have worn watches big and small. I feel like this watch would sit nicely on my wrist.

It's a really great watch on it's own merits!

·

It's not the size that matters, it's how well it works for you and what you can do with it. 😉

Small…or raw?

I've noticed that the "algorithm" is more permissive these days!

I’ve done my job in wearing it down 🤣

Great video, Max! As someone who gets frequent wrist time with the original Coop and now is hanging on to this new Khaki Aviation for a bit—they do feel like totally different watches. I think to truly enjoy this 36mm option, it has to be a standalone appreciation, instead of a comparison with the Coop.

I tried on the black dial yesterday on the bracelet and LOVED it. Feels a little closer to the Coop, if people are looking for that, but stood on its own as a great addition to Hamilton’s move into a more classic size range. The blue gives off a dressier vibe than the black, so I think the wearer can tailor their choice to their personality/aesthetic.

·

Is there a chance a few folks might be a bit too hung up on this movie? 🤔

There. I said it. 💥

😉

·

On point and helpful review! Especially the insight on the dial being more on the purple side of blue.

I was excited when #hamilton announced the Aviation Pilot, though once I saw it I had the same takeaway as you…

For me, the applied numerals are the key to the Cooper being special, which could have had the same impact here.

I love my "big and pancakey" Cooper, haha, though I have to admit if they made a 40mm version I would love it even more…

I wish Hamilton would figure out screw down crowns. I know why this bugs me so much . I know I'm crazy. I think collectors would be more enticed with a screw down crown & 100m water resistance. The Day/Date function would be cool. Especially on a 36mm actually 37mmish. Some would say it's busy . In the right proportions it would look awesome

Funny but it's the opposite, I have 50+ watches, so I'm totally surprised when any watch is still running when I pick it up

51 days power reserve is a big ask 😉

·

I dislike this watch. I hate anything larger than 40mm but would pick the og day date over this anyday

Thanks Meg! Yes, I agree if you look at it in its own right, it's an amazing watch. I'll keep waiting for the smaller day-date 🤞😅

That's so hot 🥵

·

I find it a little odd that size is so worried about. I have tried enough watches on that I know what I like. Someone with my wrist size may have different preferences and that's up to them because watch collecting should be about what you like.

Could the dial, hand, configurations be made in a larger size? Duane...Black Diamond, WA. 98010
