Doxa, baby, what is you doin’?

I love Doxa. I own some. They’ve had some nice releases the last few years. Heck, that Clive Cussler Special Edition was pretty cool and fitting for the brand.

But this? I don’t know about this.

Image

I don’t personally like it. Just my opinion. What do you Doxa fans think at $6,950?

Looks super cool. Black and gold are a really good combination. But the pricing is ridiculous, especially considering it is a PVD instead of DLC at that price point. And for sure there is no extra $4000 worth of gold in that watch. Also, they could have just gotten rid of the date window. The colour matching is nice but it is unreadable so is the bezel insert marking. Black on black 🙄

The dial reminds me of the rubberising paint used on bakkies (NAmEng: "trucks" BrEng: "pickup-trucks" AusEng: "utes")

They could have added a little more gold for contrast. Gold paint to the dial text, sector lines, date and the bezel numbers. Would have rounded it out better.

I like it for the price of their carbon case not 6k. A gold bezel dosent merit that much more in my eyes. Especially if that’s it! Plus the carbon case has an in-house cosc movement. Not saying we know the capabilities of the in-house movement but atleast we know this the 3k price tag we are paying for R and D.

I can't even read the text on the dial from any angel from all the photos I have seen of this watch. Gold text would have definitely made the watch look better 💯

Agree either drop the date window entirely or colour match the indices in some way. Does look a bit like they forgot about 3 o'clock!

But I do really like it nonetheless

Exactly! 😄

·

Why it says 7250 eur but 6950 usd? Doesnt make sense.

·

Omg I didn't even notice the date window😂

·

Huge nope for me.

Generally speaking for mots of the novelties, we can always speculate that any brand will apply the famous downsizing trend. Even possible return to pieces geared to feminine wrists.

(No, your wrist isn't small, it's average) For the “connaisseurs”, a possible return of the 750t range in its Gmt version, would have made some noise.

Following the CEO, Jan Edocs, on social networks, I can't help but make the following analogy: this piece is aimed at brand novices located mainly in the Middle East. Or for those for whom the carbon version, or the Doxa color range, isn't flashy enough.

Speaking subjectively: the design has its limits. Too dark, not enough contrast, why isn't the date in gold to balance the frame, why keep the date?

Living in Geneva, should I go and tell them ? 😂

·

Tuttle vibes! Exit stage right. 🤐👋🏼

·

Wow a Selta SW200 at that price is mad and I thought Tag were overpriced with the same movement.

Not sure but maybe because VAT is included in EU price and not USA price.

·

Another in the category of ‘super cool but not for me, not for the money.’

·

What in the Sam Hell…well I guess it’s not that bad…it is a Doxa…what is up with that terrible date thing.

Maybe they can use the money from the waisted R and D to just lower the price of the white pearl carbon ;)

·
Kalsota

That’s what I mentioned earlier. It would have made it look a lot better. The date kills me the most. 😄

Dude... When I saw the date I literally rolled my eyes. Honestly all they have to do is make a few small tweaks to the text and they have a winner here.

·

Ok, I have been looking for a Doxa AD in So California for a long minute. My son's team wanted to gift each of their swim coaches a Doxa Sub 200 (Everyone chips in - 300 plus club team ) The team picked the watch but wanted to see one in the metal . I may have had some influence on the requirement to see one 1st. Anyway the team moved on to Marathon (yep I had some influence there too)

Most Doxa Watches remind me of AMC Gremlins. They share the same color scheme and vibes

We can keep doing this all night

·

Someone carved a charcoal briquet into the shape of a Doxa watch. ( that's the cleanest version I could come up with) 😉 I sure hope Doxa takes a step back from the Invicta path they are going down.

·

Looks cool but doesn't seem to be legible enough for a daily driver

·

a cool combination with a hefty price. i hope they added more gold so it will stand out; legibility might also be a problem. anyways, it is not really something i'd wear.

the price, however, is better left unsaid.

I think this does look sort of funky. May not be your style, but at least they're trying. I cannot justify the price tag however. Ceramic watches are fairly expensive, but I'd much sooner look at a Captain Cook Ceramic (half the price) or a Longines Hydro ceramic (just over half the price). And it's a shame when a solid, tool oriented brand such as Doxa falls into the fashion trap. And starts barfing up sentences like: "The result is extravagance with a sense of proportion and a choice of materials that connect the watch to our time". To follow up with a black on black date window...

·

I think the look is super cool and very fitting for Doxa, but the materials and hence the frightening price tag is not. Imagine pvd steel and bronze bezel instead of carbon and gold around the 3K mark...

·

Not a fan of this release. I'd prefer the Doxa Army over this one (and save in the process).

·

Would need to see it in person and on the wrist. But not crazy about the completely black date. Maybe add gold fonts.

·

That is a great watch 👍

·
  • Takes watch known for legibility

  • Makes watch illegibile

  • Charges more

People will buy it, and the sun will rise in the east tomorrow.

·

It’s a lot of money for something I’d find hard to read #doxa
