My exit watch

So for those that know me, for a while, I used to post a lot of times a day, was super engaged, and was always looking for that next watch, even the day after buying one.

Then I randomly came across this piece at the GS AD, and fell in love. I bought it on the spot, and I have lost interest in looking at watches ever since. I come back here once or twice a week, and scan the threads, but my desire to find another timepiece is gone.

Maybe it will come back, but for now, anything I try and look at just comes across as not this watch, and thus not interested.

I realize tastes are different, so most of you will look at this and think it's not that special, and I definitely get that. but for me, it's the most beautiful watch I have ever seen, and just kind of ruins everything else for me.

It’s an awesome piece and very versatile. That said, you’ll eventually see something else that sparks joy.

·

Congrats on finding the one that slaked the thirst!

·

Congrats on the watch, she's a beauty!

But an exit-from-collecting watch doesn't necessarily mean an exit-from-the-conversation!

Conversations can still be had, even if you're not interested in buying another watch :)

·

You're free!  When you're certified sane enough to leave the asylum, you get out of there!

I am filled with deep envy for your boredom with new releases!

·

Excellent watch and definitely one worth spending some time with. Since we are on the brink of a global recession, probably not a bad place to be with a watch that will take you through the next two years. Kudos!

·

Congratulations. This GS is a beauty… Perfect colours, dial, movement and design!

·

this is one of their 1500 LE pieces right? If you can have an AD source one for you or happen to walk into one that has it, it makes me think that the latest LE, SBGY009, will be the same.

regardless of c24 prices showing at or above retail

which gives me some relief that if I wanted to, I could always pick it up and not have to commit to that now

·

Heresy...

Yea, I got it about 2 months after release, in the Paris AD. not sure if any are left, but if the recession is coming, any watch you want most likely will cost less the longer you wait for it :)

·

I totally understand…I myself try to re spark my passion by either buying more or modding but lately some watches have lost its luster…maybe it’s just that time of the month for me …but I do envy thee for finding the last scratch for thy Ichibunz…

Congratulations, it's a beauty. When did you get it? I'm wondering if enough of a honeymoon period has passed for you to be sure you're sure... Also, do you have other watches, and have they become redundant?

I got it 3 months ago. I have 6 watches I wear in rotation, and I still wear them all the time. One of them I don't wear much at all because it's a dress watch, so will most likely sell it. This is my collection, other than the one above

The one I will sell:

Apparently, I like blue :)

Very nice collection! I've almost convinced myself to downsize to three watches, and it is the Tudor BB36 which has almost persuaded me, so a similar impulse to yours.

·

The mythical exit watch. Is it the watch itself or is it a shift in mindset? Congrats on finding yours!! Grand Seiko seems so solid of a choice.

Do you find the exit watch or does the exit watch find you?

·

This and the Godzilla are the only GS that ever interested me.

Part of it is my personality. I used to love cars, but then I got my dream car, and now a car is just a car. My wife happens to be the most beautiful woman I know. So I don't really look at women anymore.

Now that I have what I feel is the perfect watch for my wrist, I am just not that interested in finding another.

·

Because you will probably ask... this was the car (Ramdom photo from internet):

And this is my actual wife :).
In the first photo, we just swam through a cave, to a beach completely surrounded by walls, so she is a bit tired :). The next photo is what she is looking at. Crazy that she is 44 years old!

May be an image of 1 person, beach and ocean
May be an image of nature

I think you are wrapping it up on a very high note!!!! This is just gorgeous,  spring drive, Titanium  (I think) What else do you need? Post Script: at least keep them Explorer I or Ranger if you picked that up

Thanks. Yea, I love it. Oh, and it's SS, not Titanium :)

You will only know it’s for real when you sell all your other watches

·

Alas exit watches do not exist if your a watch nerd. It’s only a matter of time when you will need your next fix.
The only exit watches belong to people who not in the slightest bit interested in horology. They buy a watch and wear it till it breaks before replacing it.

I am a pretty big watch nerd.

And the Venn diagram for "I want a spring drive" and "not in the slightest bit interested in horology" do not intersect.

Just because I happen to find a watch that in my eyes has no equal, does not invalidate my involvement in the hobby.

Only time will tell 👍

- BUT - I’m sorry…the truth is…there is no such thing as an exit watch! 🤣
