Omega rubber strap or whole other watch for same price?

I’m very lucky to call myself an Omega SMP 300 owner. Now the question is, would YOU buy the rubber strap for your current go to Omega watch, or spend the same amount of money on a different watch complete with rubber strap?

For me, it would be an Elliot Brown Holton Pro, but it could be what ever rubber strap watch is on your radar. What would you do?

If it’s the Elliot brown I would go with it! But the rubber strap does look good on the SMP

New strap, especially for the SMP300 = new experience.

·

Just grab an Aliexpress rubber strap and buy the new watch. 😉

·

Buy the watch and an aftermarket strap from 'The strap tailor' and you'll barely be over budget.

Pretty sure @solidyetti loves his EB.

I am very happy with the OEM rubber strap from Omega. I found it on eBay for a relatively good price. Rubber B has a strap for it also if you can’t find the OEM one.

Oh yeah. Love mine. Even better on the WOE Glomar Explorer.

Best affordable, G Shock tough level watch, and a bonafide SBS MOD unit watch for street cred. Mine has been rock solid.

To be expected since EB has sent one to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, blown one up, plus all kinds of other drop tests.

I like the OEM rubber strap. It’s very comfortable.

·

I really enjoy changing out bracelets and straps so I’d go for the omega rubber, also I would never be taking that SMP off haha

Investing in a watch you already love is rarely a bad idea.

I just received an email response from the spare parts department for Swatch Canada regarding my inquiry about an OEM red rubber strap and steel clasp for my SMP watch. Red rubber appears to be a premium colour option $480.00 cad steel clasp is $370.00 plus 13% HST. The fit and finish is top notch but somehow the 1000 bucks might be better spent on another watch or some other equally foolish expenditure. Nobody is forcing me to continue in this hobby but very slowly, I am thinking about the tools in my garage and furniture refinishing as my new/old distraction.

In the UK the rubber strap is £250 and the buckle is another £250. I just paid £500 for a Studio underd0g.

I love my Green SMP300, but I'm just as happy with a £50 strap from a 3rd party. I usually go back to the bracelet pretty quickly anyway, it just feels right.

The Omega straps are pricy but I really prefer them to other brands. They just feel more premium than anything else I’ve found.

·

Buy Uncle Straps - The flat H bracelet looks pretty nice on that SMP. Then buy a new watch LOL 😆

·

Buying a strap from any brand is wrong. I fell for this early on, and bought a replacement gator strap for my Breitling at near $500, not knowing better. Now that’s up to $550 Without the damn buckle! Never again with straps from the brand. I could have two gators and a calfskin made custom for near that. And they’d be better straps! It really surprises me that brands openly rip off their customers with overpriced straps, but they all do.

Check with your AD, they sometimes have extra straps laying around and if you purchased there sometime they will just hand you one. I just got a green rubber with buckle claps for free. Posted about it last month.

I put my sea dweller on a cheap fkm strap does the job perfectly,I also own the Holton professional, excellent watch can take a beating

Another watch is a non starter. There are to many questions. If your happy with your Omega, a new strap will only add to its versatility and wearability.

·

I'd rather own a high quality rubber strap to match my high quality watch.

·

If you can afford the Omega, get the strap. Then add a new watch to the collection.

·

New strap, no competition.

·

I imagine you have a box full of straps that already fit your omega. More tools for another hobby is my vote

·

I just added the new Omega rubber strap with deployment, and couldn’t be happier. Worth the investment for my money.

·

Very happy with my SMP300 on rubber - super comfortable.

Sigh. Darn autocorrect. Should have read deployant. LOL!

I'd buy the Omeag strap if you really want to go for rubber. However the SMP 300 is much better on the bracelt in my opinion. Sorry I guess that doesn't help.
