The L2L is a bit excessive, but it’s definitely high quality. I don’t wear it much, but that’s a “me” problem. My only real critique is that it is not particularly legible, because it’s a white dial with yellow markers. I think the black or even tropical dial is probably way more legible.
I cut off the “second layer,” on all my NATOS, if that’s what you mean. Just the part that goes under the watch head. People act like it adds security but that’s false. As long as you have a single piece of fabric running through the watch, if you lose one spring bar the watch will remain attached to the strap from the other one.
Unless I’m missing something, I have no idea what that second layer does.
Photos like this are tough to judge. What you really need is to get a shot of yourself in a mirror or something, to see how it actually looks in proportion with your arm, from a distance. The best wrist shot in general would be someone else taking a photo of you wearing the watch. If you can’t use a mirror or get someone else. Take a photo as far away as possible like below
