My dad gave me this (his watch) when I was 12. I’m now 32.
I wore it as a little kid, paid no real mind to the fact that it would become precious. I didnt get into watches until I was about 21. Didn’t baby it, lost it once, and to this day I only wear it on occasion.
But obviously, this isn’t something I’d sell. The original bracelet is in shambles from all kinds of stretch, but this forestner bracelet really gave the watch a second life. Wears like a dream.
Also, I only serviced it once, a few years ago.
Going strong.

He gave me his*, he didn’t buy it for me. I corrected the post now to avoid a slew of comments similar to yours LOL
That’s a great watch! I gave my 12-year old a G-shock 😬
Not 12, but at 15 my dad gave me a GMT Master I with the acrylic crytal and like a kid, I never cherished it and never took care of it until it was too late and I ended up having it stolen. To this day, I still wonder who's wearing it...LOL. Fast forward decades, I really wanted a Pepsi to "honor" that watch and to my surprise I was offered one on my first visit to a Rolex AD back in 2022, I guess timing and personalities really aligned.
Thank you for sharing. I really enjoy reading stories about personal connections to watches that people have.

Your dad must love and trust you a great deal! What a wonderful gift. My dad and I had that kind of thing. Thanks for sharing your story!
I was playing with He-Man action figures at 12. You were well ahead of the game. What a gift at that age and you still have and cherish the watch. Very special...

G.I Joe for me. Cheers
It’s great that you have this wearable memory device that connects you with your dad.
And it still looks fresh. You've taken such good care of it. 🙌
