The Last Trio SOTC of the day… “The Toys!”…

Ok quite a controversial watch over the past years and for these three watches as much as I don’t wear it often, it brings me just great Joy having them in my collection

The Uranus

The first one of the three … no explanation but an Ichibunz cannot be Ichibunz without Uranus! But is more special to me because my friend @UnholiestJedi helped me acquire this special piece !! Thank you again my friend!! This is when I realized WatchCrunch is indeed special and folks in this community are “real” so I hold most of Crunchers in highest regards!! And I mean that wholeheartedly!!

Image

The Moon

This piece is also special since my wife gifted I to me for our anniversary ❤… as much as she complains that I have enough, she supports my hobby so this one is a keeper!!

Image

The Jupiter

Well the color combo got me!! Love the orange and brown combo… so gotta have it!! lol but also special since I bought this at the actual store and was so excited!! Since it was hard to get one back in the days… but really I love the color combo!!

Image

Ok this ends the Trio SoTc experiment!! Hope you enjoyed them…

All our watches are toys really. Some argue they're jewelry but it's mostly boys...

With toys.

Agree…meant more the controversy of plastic like toys … was a bit of a big debate over some past threads/posts…

I agree that online watchdom has a bit of a metal fetish. Look at the horror that greeted ETA putting modern, self-lubricating (plastic) parts in the Powermatic 80 movements.

It's still why I decline to get one, my funds need to go other places. However, I was happy to assist you in getting yours.

I do like the Jupiter. I have the Mars but the more muted tones of the Jupiter are great for this season.

The watch isn't nearly as controversial as is what it takes to lock one down which was exacerbated by the demand. Every watch will have admirers and detractors with a small vocal segment feeling the need to "justify" why it does or doesn't please them. Some don't merely articulate what didn't please their pallette about a watch but frame it in terms of right or wrong choices as if it were a moral rather than creative difference.

The more secure one is the less compelled one feels to explain or defend their likes and dislikes or to be bothered by how others spend their money.

Swatch has made James Bond, Olympic, Renaissance Artist, famous architect watches etc without the backlash that accompanied the financially ginormous roll out of the MoonSwatch.

Image

Swatch didn't devalue the Bond movie franchise, the javelin toss, the Mona Lisa, etc. If anything it helped maintain their relevance in some small way while acknowledging their cultural significance.

The watch enthusiast community has had a very minimal impact on past Swatch sales and in my view hasn't earned the stakeholder status that comes with influencing creative choices. It's like not shopping at a successful bakery founded a half century ago but complaining about the pricey new cookies people are standing in line for. Mostly "enthusiast" people observing the festive Bakery from the outside and shaking their head because they "know better".

Different views are normal but the claim that one's position is superior to another in matters of personal taste is just arguing over pizza toppings. I don't get butt hurt if someone wants to spend their money to put anchovies on thier pizza.

Ah, but wait! Your butt, or nose might get hurt!

Your table is right beside that gross pizza person, and you are downwind of those extra anchovies!

So now you’re eating a delicious classic but it smells like low tide on a hot day 🤢😣

😉

I’m being goofy, great voice of reason Jack!

That pile of 007 boxes brings a lot of great memories- Xenia Onatopp!! 😂👌

Totally love the humor! Can't recall the last time I dined in for pizza though I do remember when smoking in restaurants was okay and too-bad-so-sad for anyone seated nearby that didn't order a side of second hand smoke. Yuck!

Kudos to anyone who refrains from buying what they don't like. Kudos to someone who buys something they Love that they can also afford. Kudos to those not emotionally invested in how others spend their discretionary funds.

Many YouTubers and much of social media has normalized picking winners and losers for people they don't know when it's no one else's business how one spend one's paycheck. I feel sorry for anyone that needs an online watch daddy telling them good boy I approve or bad boy I don't then double it when the watch daddy is biased or compromised.

Coming up in the neighborhood we use to say "Mind your own wallet."

Be well my friend!
