Ophion over a Breitling B01 Navitimer?

I'm currently considering moving my Navi on for a dress watch.

The problem I have is all the dress watches I like are well into five figures.

However this limited edition ophion has caught my eye. I LOVE unique watches with surprisingly high end watch making behind them.

As well as having a grade 5 titanium case made by Voutilainen & Cattin SA (Kari’s case manufacture). It also features a 5 day PR manual movement made by MHVJ and Soprod, further decorated by Ophion.

Now my conundrum is the Navi is a classic an icon in its own right. But I love everything about the Ophion (except the logo print) and I haven't been quite so excited by a watch in a while!

Anyway wound love to get your input. Think I'm mad?

I think this over the #breitling but both are amazing

no never, besides the fact I love Chronos, the B01 of the Breitling Navitimer is a wonder Column Wheel

This Ophion looks stunning. 🤯

nice gear shift from tooly chrono to dress - hey if thats where you are going why not?

a vote in favour of the ophion (coming from a breitling fan) is that this will also be a 'public' as well as a 'private' watch. what I mean is assuming you personally get basically the same excitement from the ophion and the navi (an assumption) then they have the same 'private' value. but the ophion will be a thing of interest with others in a way a rolex/omega/breitling/cartier never will hence great 'public' value.

of course my personal answer is to never sell, just wait, save and have both.

To piggy back this, the value has to be there to you. Are you not wearing the Navi? If you are wearing it and loving it, then save and add. I will say if you have given the Navi a few chances and you are done with it and there are no sentiments attached, drop it like third period French and move something in you’ll use.

I say go with Ophion but I may be a little biased as I’m looking at exactly the same watch 😀

·

That Ophion looks great!

·

Love that movement

·

Just from the thread pic thought it was a Baltic..... Which no bad thing.. that ophian looks lovely

·

Wow, the Ophion is beautiful and unique. You have to get it.

·

I love my Ophion. I had an initial problem with the movement and they were great about paying for it to be returned and the movement replaced and they did it timely.

If you purchase the watch, definitely double-check the movement right away.

The work on the dial is spectacular and the finishing is really good.

Definitely well worth the asking price.

Here's mine...a couple of photos so you can different shots of the dial work...

Actually nice

·

I'm a big Breitling fan but damn the Opjion is spectacular 👌🏽!!

·

This is an amazing watch in so many ways!

My initial thought about the five-figure watches is that you’re paying more attention to the price tag/status of the watch than to the actual watches: there are many unique and spectacular watches throughout the price spectrum, though the makers may be more obscure or vintage.

This is not meant as a criticism. Personally, I value the functionality, craft and distinctive elements of watch, as well as heritage. If it is $5 or $50k, it’s a real find if it makes me smile and my heart skip.

That Ophion is gorgeous. I don't see anything wrong with the logo print. I think that it balances the dial nicely.

The Navi is going irrespective it's just a matter of what to replace it with for me. This is the front runner I do have a few more sensible choices to do with the money but it looks stunning.

Thanks for the insight may I ask what your wrist size is? One of my concerns is the size, I have 7.5 inch wrists. Though dress watches usually look better smaller.

It's mainly the spacing it looks uneven to my eyes.

·

Tough. Breitling edges just on history. This thing looks great!

·

Oh wow, that's actually gorgeous.

·

What a wonderful conundrum.

I think the Ophion is a beautiful watch. The chapter rings and applied numerals are spectacular. The brand logo and uncluttered dial are elegant. The lugs are gorgeous. The crown is neat simple clean design with lovely gnurling. The movement finishing is incredible considering the price point. The hands are unusual and well considered especially the patrimony esque covnexity to the tips.

I would get this in a heartbeat. There are a million navitimers out there. Not many of these.

Good choices and good luck

Fabulous watches but currently out my price range. Also I'm partial to D Dornblüth at this price point

D Dornbluth is my holy grail watch. Someday I will hopefully be on the waiting list.

But honestly at this price point are there really any ‘bad’ watches?

Great question.

My wrist is 7.5 inches - no problem with the Ophion. The elongated lugs make the size work perfectly.

Oh awesome. That's decided it for me I'll give the Ophion a go!

Ophion is nice ... you could also consider Sartory Billiard if you are into independent dress watches for 5-10k.

Lovely looking watches but a lackluster movement at the price (looking at the sb04)

If it’s going and you love this, why am I not responding to a NWA post😅
