Nomos Black Neomatik VS Ember

The black is 42mm lug to lug 52.3mm lug to lug

The ember is 39.5mm lug to lug 49.5mm lug to lug

I can get both for roughly the same price.

My wrist is 7.5 inches or 19cm for reverence

I currently own a GO SEA Q which has a lug to lug of 51.5mm

From the manufacturer's website. You can do it yourself with calipers too. Be mindful if the watch has male end links the lug to lug appearance will be larger.

Try it on and see what feels better. I prefer the 42 mm blue dial, but the black would be my second choice. The 42 mm variant has better specs and a better movement than the 39 mm and 37 mm, but in the end it comes down to personal preference.

Just based on the information you provided, I think you would be fine with the 42mm, but I would suggest trying it on first if you have an AD in your vicinity.

What's better about the movement aside from the date? From what I can tell they have the same PR too.

I'm going to try the 39.5mm on Monday. I need to see the colour in the metal.

Yeah for basic timetelling they‘re identical, but a lot more engineering went into the DUW 6101 to develop the proprietary date mechanism. Plus higher water resistance for the 42 mm version.

That smoky brown color is just so interesting and beautiful. Also elegant

·

Suspect they’d both fit your wrist well enough. The smoky brown dial is more interesting, the black is more versatile.

·

Nomos watches, being pretty much all dial, tend to wear larger than their dimensions might suggest.

Personally, I think the Ember is the right size, but I don’t know what your preference is for watch proportions. Some prefer their watch dial to cover a large proportion of their wrist; others (including me) prefer a smaller dial

·

I’m team date function so I vote for the 42. But if the 39.5 had a date I think that would be a better size for an all dial watch.

I think my wrist is about the same size and while a 42mm diver looks fine for me, a 42, without a dive bezel to tighten the look up, tends to feel and look a bit big for me.

That ember color looks great too. I’ll concede there’s always room for a black dial sports watch but if you already have a bit of a collection I’m all for the Ember.
