Today, while visiting my parents, my dad took me aside to his office and handed me an old-looking Seiko box. I know he's not a watch guy, so I was a bit confused. Inside, was a small, gold watch with a carriage logo.
He proceeded to tell me that this was the watch my great-grandfather received when he retired from Fisher Body (General Motors' coachbuilding division) in the 1950s.
Sadly, I have very vague if any memories of my great-grandfather, but apparently, he wore this watch nearly every day and was incredibly proud of what it represented. I had no idea it existed, let alone that he had given it to my dad, so I was thrilled to discover that my family has an heirloom watch and honored that it's in my care until I have the opportunity to pass it on to my son, when he's old enough.
It's tiny (21mm) but beautiful and runs. I took it off the worn and damaged expansion bracelet and put it on the only 18mm strap I had on hand. But I plan to buy a nice dark brown alligator leather strap with gold hardware, since I think this lovely little watch deserves something special.
A really fantastic surprise for Father's Day. ❤

That is incredibly special. Glad you have it!
I still remember “Body by Fisher” stamped onto the sill plate of each of my grandfather’s Oldsmobiles.
That’s an amazing watch with great history! I remember seeing the coach emblem & “Body by Fisher” on the rocker panels of my Dad’s old ‘82 Chevy Impala station wagon.
That is a great watch! And a treasure for your family.
