Wore this today at NY Watch & Jewelry Show - What a waste

It has become a standard now in New York that people just get out of bed and come to any & every event as if doing BBQ in their backyards on 4th of July - I can totally understand smart casual or even casual but I don't want to pretend to understand absolutely sloppy and ill-dressed. This whole thing about "dressing down" has become so annoyingly and mind- numbingly repetitive & boring that now I wonder where do those events ever take place that we see pictures of in magazines with well-dressed and well mannered people having a good time enjoying fine things in life?

Bright white tube lights, creating hospital-like ambience; security guards looking at everyone as if checking in prisoners at Alcatraz; arrogant & rude people standing behind showcases and stalls in the name of an "exhibition" but almost too lazy to bend down and pick watches or objects to show you, with expressions as if you stepped on their toes while they were in deep slumber on a beach; obnoxious people yelling & laughing at stupid jokes in the name of "group fun" and "youth" - What happened to good old class, grace, elegance, finesse, aesthetics and basic good manners?

Gone forever. COVID has changed the world in many ways.

I see a watch, but I don’t see any jewelry.

As a guy the only jewelry I wear are watches - just my preference

Your comments also apply to hotels and restaurants. I find myself going less and less to restaurants to avoid disappointments at high costs.

EXACTLY!!! I mean it literally feels like we are in an episode of Black Mirror at times - Mediocrity is Dystopia - we just havent fully noticed it yet perhaps

I'm the one who usually writes such shit... and this guy beat me! I'm fatigued from complaining and started thinking that I sound like my grandpa when he saw my parents going crazy over the Beatles. Americans always dressed down compared to Europeans but luckily less so in the marquee cities like NYC, LA, Boston, San Fran, maybe Chicago... Not, Miami... Miami until recently was a village (and now it's a bigger village with just more New Yorkers in it). NYC has gone to shit... from the number of crazies and weirdos in the street to the smell of weed everywhere, it's not the same city that it was even 4-5 years ago, let alone 20...

Beautiful watch and a great shot!

·

Haha … although an old survey (2015), we made the list of top 8 (1 being the worst). Imagine our ranking today😝

Los Angeles tossed a dress code long before New York ... and it appears the Capital in Washington DC. The amazing watches on wrist of people walking around LA in board shorts and slides is incredible. LA the Debris by the Sea look has been around for a long minute. Have to hand it to the D.C. politicians they keep that "We the People " Socialist vibe rolling dressed like a methlab foreman with no watch on wrist. They have staff to tell them what time it is

“Dressed like a methlab foreman” I can’t think of the last time I’ve seen a congressperson in so much as a T-shirt unaccompanied by a blazer.

You can't miss this guy if you are looking. He's more of a Carhartt Hoody type versus a blazer.

All politicians have their branding. I have seen him wear suits before, particularly when he’s there in session. Bemoaning the dress on Capitol Hill based on the branding of a singular congressperson is a bit much, especially when there are more important (and less shallow) issues than said 1 guy wearing sportswear

There's something about the US and people feeling that a reverse snobbery is somehow democratic. Moreso, it is about a lack of respect, both for others and one's self. Oddly, the lack of self respect in personal appearance is ultimately a form of arrogance. Note the running "I don't care what others think" trope. That is a narcissistic anti-social notion.

I don't have time to expound on the ludicrous belief that ill-fitting and low-quality clothing is "more comfortable" than something that fits well and is made with decent materials and construction. It is an assertion based on ignorance.

Aah...you just get it my friend ..you get it...and sadly a lot of ppl just dont so they use age old tactic of gaslighting it...thats the only way they can believe they are being morally superior - thanks for sharing this..You are spot on

Lots of more important things than what this guy is wearing. He just won't get to anything important. I should give him a break. I guess he's sick. Maybe just sick of dressing professionally for the job.

·

Spot on. I’m afraid that world is gone for now, and old souls like us just have to adapt and push back as best we can.

“Do not go gentle into that good night…”

its amazing how some people are trying to justify THAT too .. i mean a person who cant show the world he can dress up like an adult has little chance to do any other adult things except making a mess - which he would be comfortable with it seems

Representing your country that entrusted you to lead demands some respect. The guy knew where to show upnfor work & how to get elected: the dress video has never changed. If you can't do the little things out of respect for the position how effective will you be on real issues? FDR had bigger issues and greater health concerns. He showed up every day ready to do the job & was a bit of a watch fanatic

I don’t trust suits.

And this thread reminds me why.

Yes I work in a small English town in retail & I see some right weirdos - got a regular who thinks she's a cat (false tail & ears), a couple blokes who are very unconvincing cross dressers, and even get folks wearing dressing gown or onesies 🤯🤮
