The Price-Joy Equation

Ever thought of Price-Joy Equation? One of my favorites in my collection - a watch that I got for a very small price compared to the joy it gives each time I look at it - The dial is truly out of this world with great details and the day display in arabic (which i can read perfectly well) adds that cherry on top - What is that watch in your collection that has given you most joy compared to the price you may have paid for it - On this Price-Joy Equation chart which one will you rate the highest?

Great looking Seiko. Love the bold red dial with gilt indices to add depth. Killer strap too. Nice images, well done.

·

Red and gold! Luxury combination! Looking sharp

·

My highest price/joy piece has to be my Datejust. It’s not the most expensive or in the most pristine shape, but it delivers in the joy department.

Great watch and HMT has great history

It all boils down to the enjoyment we get out of our watches.

For me at my current age and money level I tend to enjoy watches around 1-2k and under a lot more than my most expensive piece (my GS).

It’s a lot more carefree and joyful to wear my Nomos than the GS for example.

And my Seiko5Just is the same. I put it on and can forget about it, than look at it and smile.

With my GS it’s somehow different. Every scratch hurts for example.

Maybe it is too expensive for my current taste idk.

·

As far as I can tell, there’s no correlation between joy and price.

All my watches bring me joy. Some are expensive, some are budget.

The question was little different - We all love watches and every watch brings joy to us - thats why we are all here - The point was that sometimes most joy can come from watches which are very inexpensive or less pricey compared to others in our collection and yet they bring great sense of joy each time we look at it

I get it totally - The same goes for my Casio-Oak gshocks - They look fantastic and absolutely wonderful to wear and the sense of freedom one feels while using them as beaters and as much as i absolutely adore my Rolex Everose Gold two tone i have to be super-careful to not scratch or use it roughly

I get loads of joy out of my Duro. Got it for $11.00 on clearance at Walmart.

I should really learn to read.

It’s probably this little gem, all £35 of it

Pretty much all of my G-Shocks, but especially my #gshocksquare in steel with a black rubber strap. This guy goes with me everywhere - business trip, hiking in the mountains, swimming at the beach, date night to the movies. The price-joy quotient is off the charts! Go #gshock

When I think about this, my mind immediately comes to Zelos. Their watches are not too terribly expensive, but the dials on some of them are absolutely mesmerizing.

Image

[edit] your pics remind me of Kilgrave in the Jessica Jones Netflix series. Cool watch BTW!

This is my #1 right now 1960 Seiko Lord Marvel w/ Special dial & solid 18k white gold indices and hands. Killer find in Vietnam for about 100.00 then had it gone through and had @Jericho make a custom snake skin strap for it

I love that Red dial my friend!

This sparkly fellow was about $800 bucks, it keeps within COSC time, is 200m WR safe, fits my wrist perfectly, and looks like a 6k GS. I think it’s my bang for buck champ right now.

Love that suit and that Seiko5 BTW!

what a beautiful dial..and that blue is absolutely gorgeous

·

The price/joy equation is what prevents me from buying an IWC. I don’t see the smiles per dollar with them.

Currently, I think the Orion Calamity holds the top spot in my collection.
