Swimming against the tide....

For me, it's Nomos. I really can't get into the look of their circular watches, which to me is very similar to the Braun watches of the early 80s. Their Tetra model, however, is a different story, specially if they'd expand the range of dial colors in 27mm cases to include what they currently have in the larger sizes..

I feel that way about Longines, both vintage and new. I have been tracking vintage Wittnauer for years.  They are basically Longines for the American market.  I love the styling and quality of movements.  The very same type of Longines does not arouse that sort of interest from me.

I respect their quality.  I respect their history. They have models at the right price point for my next luxury purchase. But I don't search Chrono24 or eBay for them like I do for Mido, Alpina, Eterna, Zodiac, Titus, Cyma or any other of a number of Swiss brands and Longines is, arguably, more important than those brands.

I can't put my finger on why.

for me it is a grand seiko, i respect their movement, i believe they have superior finishing and quality. but i never have desire to have gs. just what i feel, 🙏🏻

The Royal Oak and Nautilus along with any of their homages. Just not a fan of that look.

For me it's Rolex. I simply don't appreciate their design aesthetic, except perhaps for their 1960s Explorer. Sinn doesn't resonate with me too. To each his own. 😎 

Tissot in general. Sure they're good quality, but most of their designs are extremely bland and don't connect with me. Compare it to what I can get for ½ the price from Seiko, and you know where my moneys going

For me, it's Rolex.
Nothing about the design of any of their watches really appeals to me.
I've never even desired an homage to any of their designs; including watches like the BB58, which also leaves me cold.

If I'm honest, there are far, far more brands that do nothing for me, than brands I like.  I guess there's probably no more than about a dozen or so watches, across all brands that I really desire.

I agree. They're another brand that just doesn't do it for me at all. 

I've spoken about Nomos previously. I don't get the idea of an expensive, minimalist watch. It's an oxymoron.

I know that this is going to sound completely asinine, but I grew up in the 60s when Swiss watches were king and Japanese watches weren't looked up to as favorably as they are today. As a result, I can never get over the "Seiko" name on the dial, much less bring myself to pay over $500 for one.  Sorry if I ruffled some feathers....😎 

I struggle as a watch enthusiast because as I aged I've lost pretty much all interest in the big brands such as Rolex, Omega, Tudor, Grand Seiko ... . Part of it is that prices have reached the 'that's insane level' in my cheap frugal mind but mostly because they get so much exposure on watch videos and articles I feel like I've been desensitized to what others see in them.

I also don't get Nomos but I get different people value different things. Their appeal just doesn't add up in my mind.

The vintage Tissots are beautiful. They've somehow lost their way over the years....

It's funny, but there are lots and lots and lots of watches and brands that I don't desire.  But, I think I "get" why people like them and buy them.

For example, I think every single "Year of the X" gold-inlaid, diamond-encrusted, $130k watch is god-awful F-ugly!  But, I get that those watches weren't made for me as the target audience, and the target audience must LOVE them, otherwise, the different manufacturers would stop making them!

That's what the Bauhaus design is - simple geometric designs where form follows function. This is the driving force behind Nomos' design philosophy, and I get it. It's just not for me. 😀

I don't get Breitling at all. I know about their qualities, but... to me they look... a lot cheaper than they are. 🤷

I also don't get many of the contemporary ultra-high end brands such as DeBethune or Greubel Forsey. Finishing and technical prowess? Yeah, sure. But the quality of their designs don't match their artisanal capabilities imho.

So... looking back at the comments it would appear that a number of people swim against the tide in opinion on many different brands but with Sinn, Grand Seiko, Hamilton, Breitling and Omega mentioned a number of times. However, the clear winner (and I don't think there's any surprise here) is...... Rolex. The horological equivalent of Marmite it would seem (not sure that reference works outside the UK).

I'll be honest - sometimes I use them to time people in meetings to see how long they rabbit on about something before taking a breath to ask questions. Helps pass the time in boring meetings.

I find Grand Seiko a difficult call.  It's a lot of money for something with Seiko on the face.  I handled and enjoyed the o.g. white birch and the snowflake and whilst they were nice (especially the white birch) I found the pricing really hard.  I've a soft spot for the SBGA413 Shunbun but for a company that seems obsessed by detail, the non-colour coded date wheel really jars.

Jacob & Co.  Haven't seen one yet that I liked

Rolex for me. Maybe it's a cope because I'll never get in that market. But it's so ubiquitous to strive for one just for status, not for horology reasons that I don't think it provides the same type of connection to other watch peeps like say....an F91W .

Awesome collection.  The Altair is my vintage grail with the Flight a close second. 

I’m kind of all of the above with regard to every brand mentioned in this thread, with the exception of Rolex and Longines. They are my two favourite brands right now. 

I don’t have an Omega, Grand Seiko, IWC, Sinn, etc. No reason, just can’t pull the trigger.  That’s not saying there aren’t models within those brands I’m interested in. 

Hate the APRO and Nautilus. Panerai is is worse (corporately) than Rolex. 

Tissot for me- even though I like integrated bracelet sports watches I didn't get the hype for the PRX at all, I find it far too 'safe' and bland- the model with the machined 18k gold bezel is a little bit more interesting though. I guess Tissot as a brand is meant to be 'safe' anyway so I'm not their target market 🤣

Another for me is Panerai, especially with their scummy practices like stealth movement downgrades. 

I have no interest for most Breitlings, the majority of their non-classic designs are horrific and just seem cheap to me. I would only have a Superocean Heritage (if it dropped a few mm) or a Navitimer.

Try , but am not good. Enjoy some heavy stuff.

Interesting , well I don't like Rolex much and same goes for Marmite. Wonder if the correlation follows in general?

There might be a few that I just don't seem to like at all right now. This might change as taste sometimes evolves in ways we don't expect, but here are a few of mine:
1. Breitling
2. Bell & Ross
3. Panerai
4. Tag Heuer

Well I enjoy the classic Rock very much and some more modern stiff too. In fact we are going to see Ghost this Saturday 👍

Having said that I just got my self an Oris big Crown Propilot big date🤷 but the styling of this piece is very restrained and understated clean and simple ,so quite German like I guess.
