Luxury Quartz, sacrilege?

I used to wonder why a brand like Omega would ever sell a Quartz movement but I have to be honest it’s refreshing to have a “pick up and go” luxury piece that I don’t have to set if I’m running late.

It would be nice if the seconds hand had a better sweep, but it’s still an incredible watch. Doesn’t take anything away from my automatics or hurt the brand image to me IMO.

Was able to grab this at a huge discount because people hate quartz

Very cool watch William. Personally, I would take a nice quartz over a cheap automatic every day. The 9F is a work of art by itself.

Nothing wrong with a quartz, or several, in any collection. I’d love to have a Breitling Emergency in the collection, and those are also quartz.

I Agree. The Grand Seiko 9F quartz is a marvel.

Nothing wrong with quartz luxury. I picked this up a few weeks ago. I have also owned a GS with the 9F movement. The accuracy of both is crazy.

I love love love a luxury quartz. Here are three

Some of my favourite watches are quartz all three have fully serviceable quartz movements and in the case of the 9f movement sees more skilled hands building it than most mechanical movements been looking at your omega for quite a while now and it’s my favourite seamaster of that generation and I might have to get one 😊

I love it. 😍

Besides I wish Omega kept those hand instead the silly skeletonise one they use nowadays!

Absolutely nothing wrong with quartz watches. Congratulations on a beautiful watch and wear it in good health.

Just one of my quartz watches.

My father handed down to me his 40yr old Seiko Diver Quartz. I don't wear it very often, maybe 4-5 times a year, but when I do, it always shocks me that it's still keeping time accurately, almost to the second.

I also bought a moonswatch recently, and again, it's much more accurate than my Rolex Explorer.

I think a quartz GS is almost inevitable in my future.

Awesome! Didn't realize you could get a quartz reverso. What's that watch on the far right?

A tank americaine with an unusual dial.

I don’t know if they still do a men’s quartz reverso. Plenty of used ones about. It’s so thin.

There‘s a big difference between quartz movements and disposable quartz movements.

So yeah, use the time window of luxury quartz watches being unpopular to buy because it won’t stay that way for ever.

·

While this is not necessarily luxury, many vintage quartz movements were a lot more well-built than their modern counterparts and oftentimes more expensive. Here's my Tissot PR 516 with the 2031 movement, which I believe was assembled by, although not used by, Omega

Vintage quartz is awesome. I'm always interested to see how modern quartz technology is evolving, and I would love to own some of the movements mentioned here.

I have always had Quartz watches mostly Casio, only within the last 4 years I have bought more automatics but, when it comes to get up and go I will usually grab my Casio Edifice which is solar powered as well.

A watch is watch… don’t let other’s opinion on quartz deter you from purchasing one if you enjoy it

·

I couldn’t be happier with this one. Almost as old as I am, but the movement runs perfectly fine, lume is great, bracelet is great. What’s not to like? Quartz watches deserve some love🥹👍🏼

Quartz used to be considered more luxury than mechanical when the tech was brand new, it was electric, thin and really accurate.

We only associate it with cheap coz at the time mechanical was expensive, and quartz became super affordable, but nowadays there are super expensive quartz movements and mechanical watches can be found for a few bucks on aliexpress

Nearly half of my collection is quartz, it isn't better or worse than mechanical, simply a different yet equal option

·

I'd get a quartz Cartier Tank or quartz Bronsan Seamaster, no problemo!
