CWC G10: Quartz or Automatic?

I can’t make up my mind between a Quartz or Automatic CWC. I love the simplicity of the quartz in theory, but I so seldom actually wear my one quartz watch (an old Victorinix Chrono).

I’ve lusted after an IWC Mark XX for a while. I think I have some strange block about paying 5k for a flieger, though I think the Mark XX is brilliant.

My in-laws gave me an Aquaracer Chronograph as a wedding present. My mother-in-law worked at a chain Jewelry store and got a discount. It was my first luxury watch and I still love it. The build quality is really good and it keeps fantastic time at +2spd. I never understood the hate for TAG.

Question: are specs intended to apply just to on-wrist wear, or should they apply to performance off wrist? My Baby Alpinist performs at +2-3 spd when I’m wearing it, but leaps up to +20-25 spd when I take it off at night.
