i just joined the (new) Alpinist club:
(I thank/blame @Max for nudging me into the purchase with his recent roundup of green dials.)
I love it on a brown strap - don't any other watches on brown straps right now - but the bracelet you have looks great too. Someone else also suggested bracelets as giving it an Explorer-esque flavor. With a bracelet and using the compass bezel, I could be ready to navigate anywhere - like the office kitchen!
I had to look that up to get that - thought you were serious for a minute! I've heard apple peels are the vegan material of choice these days. But I have no idea what it's made of, so you could be right.
Thanks for sharing. I tend to steer away from larger cases - have been tempted by the older Conquest on occasion but was scared away by the 41mm size and have heard that Longines lugs tend to be proportionally long. So that's an interesting direct comparison. I feel like, even without the strap option, one could be covered for pretty much any social (that is, non- actual field or other physically strenuous) situation with a Santos; it's dressy, but it also has a slightly industrial look that makes it appropriate for a casual night out. It looks great and once it gets fixed - which the AD/Cartier really should do without hesitation, it seems - I hope you enjoy it for many years to come!
I've only had one softball glove in my life which seemed to be supple enough... and never had leather boots, much less good ones lol. Learn something new!
