commented on Holiday watches. How many do you usually pack, one or a tonne? ·

I only take one. I don't want to worry about other watches in my bag, the hotel, the Airbnb.

I'm currently on vacation in Australia for three weeks. I was going to take my Tudor Ranger, but as were were leaving the house, my six year old daughter said she didn't like that one and made me switch to the Omega Aqua Terra. So three weeks with the AT it is!

No great hardship. And when I come home, I'll get to reunite with the rest of the collection :)

Amazing watch, and you got a great deal. Huge congratulations.

The Railmaster is definitely a bit of a hidden gem in Omega's admittedly pretty extensive range.

I like simplicity. Increasingly so. But I'm not quite ready to go FULL boring.

I like to have a little... Something.

The Railmaster is pretty close to ideal. Simple, clean, and understated. But the subtle dial texture gives me that little extra appreciation.

I am just heading to the airport after wrapping up a vacation in Paris. I wore my GMT the entire time. We went to a lot of touristy spots, and rode the Metro. No dramas. I doubt anyone noticed it.

Wear and enjoy it. As you said, travel is precisely what it's for!

There are two main categories for me.

Some watches are just too big for my 6.5" wrist. I can't rock the Planet Ocean Creamsicle, or the Good Planet GMT, for example. And I was starting to get obsessed with the Speedmaster 57. I just tried one on yesterday, and it is also unwearable for me due to the long lugs and just not sitting well on the wrist.

The second category consists of watches that don't suit my life. For example, I really love the Lange 1815, and even had the "go on, get it" from my wife, despite it being a big step up from my current comfort zone. But there is literally no situation in which I'd wear a gold watch on a shiny leather strap. So I'll continue to admire that one from afar, unless my life changes to involve significantly fewer dogs and kids and extremely casual work environments and so on.

Welcome, and congratulations on an amazing watch!

If you really are new, you made an exceptional and well-informed choice. My first couple of "proper" watches were traps. Nicely done!

My watches are all at least 100m WR, so I wash them with warm water and a little soap.
