SOTC

There has been some outgoing and incoming watches in the past few months and I don’t know if I have ever done a full SOTC so I’ll give it a shot.

Top left to start is the MoonSwatch Mission On Earth on a cheap o Amazon strap that fits and color matches fairly well. I have no desire to talk more about MoonSwatches.

Tag Heuer Professional Quartz from the mid nineties. The first ‘nice watch’ my old man bought himself. It was given to me a couple years back and I’ve recently gotten it a full service and tracked down an extra link to fit the bracelet over my wrist. I was giddy to get to take it to his retirement party a few weeks ago.

Tissot PRX Quartz. This is one of many watches I’ve found used on eBay. Found it for very cheap, being marketed as 35mm, I bought it and a 40mm showed up but I wasn’t even mad, honestly with a 7.5” wrist I think I’m better off with this. December was a rough month and this was my little token reward for myself.

Seiko Cocktail Time Margarita on a Welsbro leather strap. A gift from the lady for my birthday last year. At 38mm the size is great, dial is stunning and I think it looks perfect on this strap.

Seiko Frankenwatch TV dial. Bought from a seller of ill repute and required a fair amount of repairs that were surely not worth the money but boy is it crazy looking!

Seiko SQ Quartz from 1978. After my grandfather passed a few years back this was given to me, from him. He was a stingy guy but this thing looks great still, and still runs great.

Brew Retromatic. Truly a favorite in the collection. I like what Brew does now but I LOVE these Retromatics and it takes a fair amount of self control to not try and get all of them.

Oris Diver 65 Heritage. My newest watch, and full honeymoon is still in effect. It’s just perfect for me. I’m a sucker for a vintage diver with domed crystal.

Longines Conquest Classic on Welsbro leather. I do have the bracelet for this but it’s great on leather. These can be found for rather affordable prices in the used market, they have great teak dials and after servicing a couple years ago it keeps great time.

Tudor Ranger. My GADA. There isn’t an outfit or occasion I don’t wear this for. I have had it for a bit over a year and it’s accumulated quite a bit of scratches and I only love it more.

Christopher Ward Aquitaine, bronze on a NATO. This was my first ‘Swiss’ watch, the first that cracked the $1k mark, and my 40th birthday present to myself. CW makes great watches, with great finishing and standard working movements.

Seiko Turtle on an Uncle President Bracelet. I’ll swap the bracelet for a NATO or even leather straps once in a while. This is just a fun watch. Everyone should have a cheap Seiko diver.

Other box.

Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38 on Welsbro suede. I don’t wear this much, my girlfriend wears it more, but I do like it. I have the bracelet but I do not like that much, so the Hammy is swapping straps quite often.

Spaghetti Scameti, I am responsible for the elimination of one middleman.

Timex Marlin. I love the domed acrylic crystal, past that it’s a rather boring watch but boring isn’t bad.

Shinola Runwell 41. This was a gift as well, Christmas 2017 I believe and it was the first watch that made me consider collecting. Shinola deserves more credit, should make smaller watches, and there’s a good argument they’re overpriced but whatever. This is mine, I rarely wear it.

Certina EA from the early fifties. This was a whim pickup for cheap. It works, running about 5 minutes fast per day. Not exactly a precision instrument but it’s a looker for sure.

That’s about all of them for now. I really don’t think I’m going to be buying much more for some time.

So, let me tell you Topper has one or two used Oris for sale on their site. I’m quite happy with mine, but if you’re interested I think they’re about $1600. Topper https://topperjewelers.com/collections/topper-pre-owned-select/products/pre-owned-oris-14741

Wow...this looks so much better in your photos than in the marketing stuff. Suddenly it is very appealing. Love the distortion

I got those off of Topper’s website. They probably took great photos to make sure they sold off quickly. 😁

My dad has that exact tag heuer!!! Such a cool watch!!!

I really like your CW comment, and congrats on the Aquitaine, I have 3 with one black gmt, I have about 10 of their watches , they are my current fave, however, the bel canto has made them horological celebrities, I wanted one , but then I thought for that amount, I could get a nice used Cartier Santos, even (currently) a JLC odysseus, looks nice for 4 k , hm, what's your thought , great collection by the way

Wonderful collection! I love the variety. My favorite would be the Oris Diver 65 Heritage.

Right on! The Bel Canto is truly a standout from the rest of the CW line. I don’t think I’d buy one, I’m much more leaning towards another Tudor or even Oris before a Bel Canto.

To me, the Tag is such a nineties icon but I’m sure I’m a bit biased as it was on my old man’s wrist through the nineties!

The distortion is the special trick of this watch. It’s among my favorite features on any watch I’ve seen. I love it on any domed or box crystal but with these numerals it looks wild!

Your taste is totally mine. I grew out of the MoonSwatch tho, but I'd wear it if I had it.

I don t wear it much but I do like it, I like seeing it in the box and once in a blue moon (no pun intended) ill take it out.

The Spaghetti Scameti is hard to top...

One of the things that keeps surpising me about the watch world is how often this is true

·

I like your Tag Heuer and Seiko on presidential bracelets. It’s an underused one. And I like the CW.

·

Great collection! My two favorites from your collection is the Oris diver 65 and your vintage Certina dress watch. Thanks for sharing!

I like your Oris and Ranger best :)
